Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

Frontend noise

Trailblazer and Envoy related, but not off-road related...

Ok guys I'm needing a little help. I have an 05 trailblazer with about 114k miles and marks 3" lift. Recently I have been hearing a "pop" coming from my frontend. Sounds like drivers side. It mostly does it at slower speeds over bumps, and when I take off. It also doesn't do it all the time. I thought it might be the sway bar links since they were the original ones so I changed then out and put moog's on, but no luck. I'm still getting the "clunk" or "pop". What do you guys think??

Update. The popping has been getting worse. So today I drained the front diff fluid (which I had changed less than a year ago. It was still full and looked almost new (no metal). So I thought maybe it was the caliper sticking some so I cleaned it and bleed the brakes. I had no luck with either as I took it out for a test drive and was still getting the popping.

So what else? Cv (I tried moving it all around and there was no up and down movement just a little side to side) Tie rod end? Ball joints?

What is the best way to test all of these?

It could be possible that the balljoints are making the clicking noise... How many miles are on them?

Bushings on the a arms and ball joints are the usual suspects after the sway bar end links.

I've even seen the bolts in the upper a arm spontaneously loosen on multiple occasions.

I just check the upper control arm bolts and they are tight. So I guess it's time to change the ball joint and control arm bushing.

Should I just switch out just the bushings or just buy a whole new upper arm with the bushing already in it. And should I spend the extra money on a Moog ball joint?

Also I never flipped the upper control arms when I put my lift on. Should I do that or not worry about it?

It's easy enough to burn out the upper bushings and press in new ones, if you don't want to be bothered just get the arms. Swapping arms will get you a better upper ball joint angle if you're on the verge now. It's def something to consider.

I like the moog stuff, there's plenty here that don't have any better luck with them than they do the cheap stuff.

Ok thanks. I just ordered control arm bushings, sway bar bushings, and upper ball joint. I'll hopefully have this done this weekend and see if the pop goes away
