Since the latest addition of new tires and rims, I decided I was due for a little backcountry adventure. Me and a buddy loaded up some essential sustenance and supplies and headed up to a new (to us) POI that was recommended by a friend of his dads after discussing camping spots. Crystal Mountain is actually very close to the Lake Winona trails that I have posted about before. It's just another beautiful place out in the great land of Paron, Arkansas that I had yet to plant my tires in. Also turned out to be a great photography spot!
Getting to the actual trails that led to the mountain, I would rate them 1.5 at easiest (on the TRAILS, not the gravel roads, lol) and 2.5 at hardest while I was there. Tons of loose rocks/gravel, tree parts blocking paths, very narrow passages, large rocks protruding, and steep inclines combining all of the above.
Not many mudholes, but the few I encountered were pretty deep, and very thick at the time. I'm positive my A/T's in the garage at home would never have made it.
There were a few places where the loose gravel combined with the super steep incline had me start sliding back down the trail, even in 4WD. Pretty dang steep. Didn't have my cameraman get out for that part to try and keep weight stabilized.
Just some random shots
Ended up being a pretty fun weekend trip! Almost ran out of gas though, need to get that rear bumper with the tire carrier and jerrycans! Only complain is I didn't take enough pictures!
