TECORE II
September 18-20, 2009

The players:

JamesDowning
Gordinho80
Dizzlenator
Ultravorx
Bobbyblaze

The itinerary:

Friday:
9:00 a
Meet in Baltimore
5 Lifted TB Convoy to Harrisonburg
12:00 p Gas up in Harrisonburg
Lunch in Harrisonburg
Head down Rt-33 to the Kephart Trail.
Kephart is a 2.5mile trail that starts easy and gets slightly difficult in areas. It's rarely visited, as it's a dead-end trail, but provides a good way to 'get your feet wet'. + 5 miles of dirt
Headed up to the first campsite via Union Springs Rd (AKA Forest Service Route 225 & 225B). Rough road, do not proceed without a lift and at least A/Ts. + 10 miles of dirt.
6:00 p Hit the campsite. Begin setting up camp. We had the knob to ourselves.
Dinner, fireside, watch stars.

Saturday:
Breakfast, tear down campsite... full day of wheeling ahead of us.
Head to Flagpole Knob... it's mandatory if you're in the area.
Head back down towards 33. + 10.5 miles of dirt...
~11:30 p Hit 33, and aimed towards second mountain.
Began at the main entrance to the north mountains; long run road. (AKA FS 72) + 6 miles of dirt.
~1 p Lunchtime at "Clines Hacking"
Headed down 2nd mountain trail, dead end road (AKA FS 502) + 9 miles
Played with recovery stuff, went over best practices
Headed to the campsite via Vepco Road (AKA FS 240)... + 11 miles
~5:30 p got into the campsite, begin setting up... explore area + 3 miles of dirt
Dinner/etc...
9:00 p Night run down Vepco and Tom's Park... + ~14 miles

Sunday:
Breakfast
Heading back towards Rt 33... needing gas
Went back via FR 87 > FR 72. +23 miles of dirt...
Got some quick gas... then headed down to a fun stream crossing...
Time to get some Sonic for lunch!

Total of 91 miles of dirt trails... wowzers... :awesome:

Now the pictures will come. Slowly. :flex dirty:

I actually didn't take a ton of pictures this time around... I didn't have a navigator/photographer with me this time... so I'm mainly depending on the other guys to post up their pictures/videos.

Here's a few to tide you guys over:

Kephart:

Falcon along Union Springs:

Mario climbing some rocks:

I had a really hard time getting a picture here at flagpole... this is the best of like 20... filter compliments of someone's glasses.

Just before 2nd mountain:

This trail was quite steep... amazing view from above... although, I forgot to take a picture... I'm sure someone else did.

Bob did just fine. He did scrape his oil pan skid plate a couple of times... but I'm sure he'll post the pics and details!

I actually did have some post TECORE carnage!!

On the way home on rt 81, following Dizzlenator, a softball sized rock smashed into my passenger side mirror blinker! :wallbash: It cracked the plastic, broke the tab that holds it in place, and killed the bulb. Looks like its time for an LED mod!!!

On my way to work today, i felt and heard a lout vibration that got louder with speed, when i turn left it goes away. Looks like i need a near drivers side wheel bearing :wallbash: Its an easy fix, and i'll probably avoid the extended warranty on this since they will blame the wheel spacer on the cause for sure (and i dont have spare rims to put factories back on) and the deductable is about the same cost as a new hub. So i'll just do this on myself

Remember, dont play if your not going to pay!! :flex dirty:

Bring on TECORE III

I'm still trying to figure out my noise too... it's not bad, but just a light grinding... The sound seems to change some when turning different directions. Although, I don't think it's anything I need to be worried about yet.

Plus, my treads themselves seem to be humming more... I'm thinking it's due to all the little rock cuts.
