Super Strong shackle mounts. Solid steel.

Shackle mounts: 1" x 3" bar stock, with 1" corner chamfers, and a 15/16" hole... Should stick out of the bumper about 2.25", and be welded around the front and rear sides of the bumper, as well as to the stiffening rib...

Looks like I can get this broken at lunch today, so we should be a go for welding/assembly, tonight...

You'll have to see it on my TB before you decide if you want it or not... This bumper is probably about the right height for a TB without a body lift, so there will be some space at the top of Kyle's... He didn't want an 11" tall, flat bumper, so we went with 8", and will fill in the gap with some sheet metal, at the back of the bumper...

I'm at the edge of my seat!

I'm leaving on vacation tonight, but I'll be sure to check the forum periodically!

Looking good. :coffee2:

The height is 8" correct? Would there be room to stow a hi-lift inside the bumper? Maybe an access from the side fitting underneath the mounting brackets. A compartment area maybe.

Not that I think you should add this, I just wonder if there is room.

You know if you put the shackles towards the lower part of the bumper this thing is starting to look fairly close to the H3 bumper. :D

Definitely not underneath the mounting brackets. I have Armory steel up to the frame and this is going to slide between rad skid and the frame, but I am trying to figure a hi lift mount somewhere other than the roof. Depends on my spare tire mount right now.

What if you incorporated something on top of the D-shackle mounts? How much do they stick out? Maybe a threaded stud for the top so that it can sit on there?

Just a thought...

I realize you won't have room. :poke:

More of a question for Mike.

But if you need a bumper you should have radiator skid and since it mounts to the frame, you cant have room underneath. Plus how would you get to it if you were stuck and it was under your bumper.

I did forget that you made your own radiator guard, so you could have room under, but I still dont think it would be the best place if you ran off the road and got stuck, I am thinking of a couple bolts through to clamp it to, but would perfer it on the rear.

Inside the bumper. Could one (hi-lift) slide in from the side of the bumper (say between the frame/bumper mounts and the bottom of the bumper itself) Contained in the bumper.

Imagine one side of the bumper, where it slants back, was hinged for access. With a big ass-lock to lock it.

I see what you mean. I am thinking that at only six inches deep, the hi lift may show behind the bumper some, but it prolly wouldnt hurt. The center is 40 inches and a small hilift is 48 so it would have to go into one of the wing areas, but I can lay my hilift on the top of the bumper once its on for a visual.
