Hitch mounted spare tire mount idea...

Any special projects involving a decent amount of fab work (bumpers, sliders, roof racks, etc)

So I am in Crapistan with some time on my hands. I have been brainstorming about a spare tire mount. Along the same lines as James'. I can't find anything out there that I have been thinking about.

Okay, either something the fits into the reciever or fits like the one James' has. But I was thinking make it lower...like barley up to the glass, and have a pivot on it that it can lay down to access the rear cargo area. I am just thinking out loud so to speak. It sounds simple until the lay down part...I can't figure that part yet.
Lift, shocks, wheels and tires installed...need some armor now.

James' uses the rear receiver AND it tilts for access to the cargo area. The company that made it, sells them by order...

Incase you missed the thread:

Good ideas though... be careful not to make the tire too low, then you risk not being able to use your hitch.

I'm also working on something similar in my spare time.

Mine doesn't let you use the hitch for anything else. It also slides out instead of tilting down. Not ideal, but inexpensive.

I "repurposed" an engine stand to make it...since I sold the engine that was on it for mod money. I plan to weld on some mount points for a couple jerry cans, a Hilift mount and whatever else I can think of when I get time. I may put a shackle on the end as well, but some reinforcement is in order for that.
