My attempt at making a oil pan skid plate Completed sort of

Any special projects involving a decent amount of fab work (bumpers, sliders, roof racks, etc)

We always pull #6 to welder receptacles...

I used #10 stranded for my off road lights on my roof.

It's worth the added cost to me...

Here's a quick question, would an AR500 armor plate fit if one were to drill holes in it? I have an extra lying around that isn't being used, seems to me that if it can take a .308 at ten yards, it should handle a rock or two but would the steel be too hard (brittle)?

I actually joke about making skids out of AR500 plate. It's very durable, but at the normal 1/2" thickness, it's so much stronger than the subframe that it likely could transfer all the stress of a huge hit to the subframe and destroy it, rather than the skid being the easily replaceable, sacrificial piece.

I meant armor plates for human body armor, it's just over 1/4" thick.

Oh, I thought you were talking about the AR500 plates that people make steel targets out of.

I think a skid plate made out of 7ga steel would be MUCH cheaper and easier to work with

Well yeah, if you don't already have an armor plate just sitting around...
