You need to carry a can of spray-on mud to "enhance" that ugly shininess. :shoot:

Pretty sure that's the same company that made AlekG's bumper.

I forget who made it... and his photobucket is blocked to me at work...

Yeah, it's a bumper that's adapted from a Toyota something or another, that he had his local fab guys put different mounts onto.

I wish Alek had migrated his threads over here. We started ORTB about the same time as AlekG began slinking into the abyss. I think he's a member here, but only made a few posts.

I noticed that. He had a nice setup. I see he made it to TECORE 9 though.

Yeah, I think he was at the second one. The one that occurred right after we started ORTB.

He was a good resource... did a ton to his truck well before anyone else was even thinking about it. He was the guy that paved the way for 4.56 gears!

Ok this might be kind of a newbie question on these huge bumpers I see on the top rigs. Looking at them I can understand the recovery needs, winch, tow hook ups and the great front end protection but seems counter productive with huge additional front weight load. Which in turn requires heavier front struts/ springs. Of course there is the cool factor. ;) but would you not want to keep the weight down?
Sorry if this has been covered in another post just have not come across it yet.

ideally you want to keep the weight as low as possible while still maintaining protection and recovery at the front. Barton has done a really good job of this... myself, not so much ( my bumper is a heavy bitch) lol

everything is a trade off and like most things in life you have to pick your battles. I was grateful for my bumper last TECORE when I hit the bumper on a rock that completely stopped me despite the momentum I had coming over a little hill.
