MOD: Pull-pal mount

Neil hooked me up with a custom pullpal mount last night. Thought I'd post up some pics in case anyone else is interested in something similar. The goal was to mount the base of the pull-pal up front on the bumper similar to my hi-lift. In fact, we used numerous parts from the hi-lift tube mount kit which made the final outcome all come together.

I'm rather happy I'm able to get this out of the truck as it was rather annoying to find a good, secure location for it. I'll be adding a little elbow grease, primer and paint later this afternoon :drive:

Very cool. I thought you were going to stack the blade on top of that mount, too. But then the threaded studs would be too short, I guess. Since I use the PullPal a lot less than the HiLift, I was thinking to throw mine on the Surco roof rack as soon as I figure out a way to mount the bridging ladders like JD did to make it look more Camel-Trophy-Class Expeditionary.

Yes, the hi-lift threaded bolt wasn't long enough to pass the girth of the pullpal, let alone the new brackets. However, we were still able to reuse a bunch of the parts and I'm excited how it turned out.

I hear yea on the roof rack. Adjust the brackets and bolt would be very straight forwward to mount to a rack. Of course, he'll need yours for mockup as I'm still steadily on my quest to keep my roof nice and clean :coffee:

Curious... why put the pullpal in the front? I'd assume you'd find more uses for the hi-lift, and may want it easier to access than the pullpal.

Maybe it was a matter of spacial restrictions?

They are pretty close to the same weight, so its slightly annoying for either one of them. I'd say the hi-lift slides in easier since as there are so many holes to choose from. The pull-pal is a tight fit on purpose and would be very annoying even though it shouldn't be used 'that' much.

Of course the main decision circled in my head for a few days regarding a frontal impact. Hopefully a low speed event never occurs, but if so I'd prefer the pullpal to take the bulk of the impact as it's a much stronger unit. I'm not going to worry that much about a high speed impact :finger: :finger:

I'm glad the way those mounts turned out. Just looks like you hosed them down cause the ends are starting to rust. But it could have been from me cooling them down, don't remember. Very cool though. Thanks Neil.
