Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

Mike's "Wife Proof" sliders.

Any special projects involving a decent amount of fab work (bumpers, sliders, roof racks, etc)

Hey Mike, are these part of your regular offerings yet? Any idea on cost?

I'm weighing my options for sliders...

85 Hilux - 3RZ, dual cases, caged, 40s, chromo everything
02 TrailBlazer LTZ - 35s, lockers, balls - Gone but not forgotten - Build

I do make them, but depends on what you want...

At the last prices I bought stuff, I can do the wife-resistant running boards (Nothing is wife-proof, remember) for $200 + shipping, and I can do 1.75x.120 HREW for $175 + shipping... I can do them out of 1.75" DOM or cold-drawn seamless, but have no idea about prices...

Having said that, if you've got a welder and a sawzall, you can make the running boards, and if you can deal with them being like 6" short, the TG ones are $140, and probably closer to you... Plus, I'm pretty backed up from winter right now, so unless you're in driving distance for me to do the install, or if you don't want them for a couple months, it may be better to do them yourself...

Thanks for the thought!

I'll be doing sliders as a stocked item at some point, but not yet...

Thanks,
Mike

Good to know, thanks for the input mike. I'll just wait for the first round of armor then worry about the rock sliders :D

Mike if I recall your "sliders" are 2X6 - 3/16 boxed tubing with 2X2 - 1/4 support legs welded to support plates.
How thick are the plates, 3/16, 1/4?
Also for the legs would it work as well if you used the 2X6 3/16?
Since adding the body lift my wife and kids are having some issues hoping into the TB and I thought about adding the "wife resistant running boards" to help them get in but also in case It works out where I can go to a TECORE etc.

Also how much space do you have between your sliders and the rocker panel?

You are correct on the dimensions, and the plates are 3/16".

2x6 would work for the legs, but wouldn't be any stronger in the vertical direction (weight on the sliders), because the strength you need is in the 2" direction.

I usually do sliders 1/2" from the rocker panel.

thanks Mike, I was curious since the 2X6 is 3/16 if it would be weaker than the 1/4" 2X2.
The reason I ask is depending on how the lengths work out it might be that I can make the "legs" with left over scrap from the 2X6 vs having to purchase additional 2X2.

I don't suggest it. That's a lot of area to find place for on the frame. The front one is already on the curved part of the frame.

Might be a dumb question but can these be bolted on or do they have to be welded?

You can't really bolt on to our frame, because it's a boxed frame. Not like bolting through one thickness of thicker steel on a C-channel frame on an older 1/2-ton or something.

You can sleeve the bolts, but it requires drilling, then welding the sleeves into the frame. My fabricator tried to talk me into that.

Ok. I didn't know if you had them setup to bolt into the running board holes

Running boards bolt into the body, not the frame.

Yeah, like the steering box bolts are done on most boxed frames, and like our bumper bolts are done. That's way more work than it's worth, though, IMO. Especially since you have to drop the tank and whatever else is in the way to do it.
