and then drilled some holes in the metal front bumper:

after that welded some metal and bolted it to the metal bumper:

then installed the front plastic part of the bumper with some additional holes:

I love the idea of placing the winch there but do you really think that is strong enough?

I will wait to see what Mike thinks.

My winch plate uses the stock bumper bolt locations and is seam welded along the bottom to the stock impact bar. It's demonstrated its ability to do off-angle pulls just fine.

Welcome back, Karo. It's been awhile since I've seen you post here. :friday:

I'm watching your rear tire carrier fab closely. I already have drawings for a new improved one for my truck. I'm tired of the hitch mounted one.

Ran, I'll sell it to you cheap when I'm done with it. :)

Haha yes a while back, new job, Fire in the engine bay of the TB, and so it´s going on..

Finally TB is fixed after fire from the Autogas Installation, cables where toast, new ones in and fixed many other things.
New 88 Springs & Bilsteins installed.
Actually have Cylinder 4 misfires, but it will be fixed next week and in the meantime some time for upgrading..

Welcome back Karo. Seems you're the only European member left!

I like the idea of the rear, but it could become a struggle to install the bumper cover. You may end up just cutting a slot in the bumper cover so it's easy to install.

Are you going with the press-in hinge? I've reviewed it some, and many people suggest at least welding the bottom of the press. The press also sounds challenging due to the warping of the welded hole, I'm sure you'll figure it out though.

I'm eager to see your air setup completed - I've got one of my own that I'm still tweaking.

Hi James,

Tire Carrier is completly bolted to the frame, the Hinge is installed with the head to the bottom (reverse) and it is welded, so it could be screwed from above.

Oh I see! So you'll have the crown bolt installed from the bottom. Very nice. The only issue I could see is with the seal being on top. Just make sure there's plenty of grease in there.

Do you plan to create a stop for the tire arm? Mine didn't have one for a while and it would often swing out of control. I now have mine limited to 90 degrees of motion and I like it much better.

About the winch mount... If it's 2" x 2" x 1/4" (50mm x 50mm x 6.4mm), then it's close to what they make receiver hitches out of, anyway... Would I double up a 15,000lb winch on it? Probably not... Would I run a single line from an 8k winch off of it? Sure...

That´s all so far. Hi-Jack must be mounted to the Tire Carrier, Winch isn´t wired, wireless remote and kill switch for the relay must be wired up. Hella Lamps must be installed on the Waag Guard and wired up, still much things to do, but next 2 Weeks in Holiday without Trailblazer..

Ok so for the spare tire carrier in the back you would not happen to have some measurements? That is what I am looking for on my truck and would love to have some one over here fab one up for me.

You mean the international system of measure? Noone uses that! That's actually all we use at work.

And anyone that needs "measurements"... go out and take a tape measure to your rear bumper and sketch something up. Seriously, any decent fab guy should be able to connect the dots.

Sorry for the rant. Nice looking swingout Karo! How are you going to mount the fairlead for the winch?

I would JD but some of us are not as lucky to be sitting state side or new our truck right now to do that let alone even have a cold  . Some of us are not even close to our rides. But measurements is take can be sent to have it fabbed up while we are gone and ready for the person when we get back. But I am just saying you know
