Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

2006 Straight Axled Trailblazer

Any special projects involving a decent amount of fab work (bumpers, sliders, roof racks, etc)

by Trail X » Wed Sep 16, 2009 4:22 pm

Nice to know! I know some of the show-only-guys cut corners during the fab work because there's no risk for them.

Looking forward to seeing the completed truck!

Even though its a show truck, send the owner an invite to the offroadtb.com forum. If nothing else, he could maybe wear a decal and help promote the off-roading Trailblazer revolution!

AutoProsOffRoad.com wrote:My fab work is all offroad capable. I built it as if it would be getting jumped and wheeled hardcore. It is a 70% droop suspension with hyd bumpstops. Everything will be braced and axles will be trussed when it comes back from the jamboree this weekend. It would be trail ready if I dropped it about 2-3in. and put something other than 14 wide wheels on it. Maybe a nice set of 39 iroks on some 9 wides with beadlocks. He just wanted it to look like a mini monster truck for show purposes. Its not a tack welded looks like it could offroad truck. I figured all the anti squat and oversteer numbers. Plus the suspension is fully adjustable.

Oh, I totally don't mean to knock on your work! You've got to do what your customer wants! I don't think any of us hold that against you!

I know that you will finish weld everything but are you doing more reinforcement to the shock tabs? Also is the cage work going to be a little more extensive? Thanks Neil.

Yea. When it comes back it will be getting a cage that will tie into the rear shocks. An the tabs will probably get boxed in and smoothed out.

I saw it in person and it is well built. Needed driveshafts and radiator from what I saw, but it didnt look far from drivable. I would wheel it, but with 37's

Nice to see you didnt forget about us here!

That info would be great with all the details, esp since the solid front conversion is under strong R&D in many of our garages

It did have an engine swap which made a huge difference on the SAS. I want to park next to it if it comes to the Indy Jamboree. I have some trail shots that might make the owner cringe.. Nothing against the builder. He built a hell of a rig, but the owner told me to my face that he just wanted to drag race it.

Are you coming down to the Jamboree at all. I know it is a bit of a haul, but I get ideas every year there.
