10 post minimum. We figure that will stop the non-legitimate spam, but not overrun the forum with people posting useless crap just to post something for sale.

Hi everyone, I have been longtime member of Trailvoy and have kept my '02 LT TB stock for as long as I've owned it. I am from IA, so not a lot of rock crawling, mostly hills and mud trails. My stock TB has been rock crawling once in the Rockies which was west of Woodland Park, CO on some unmarked trails. It did just alright, but I knew it was capable of so much more. Now that I have almost all my projects done around the house it is now time to focus on building up the TB, which is something I have wanted to do for quite some time. I have been lurking on the site for a few days learning new things, because up till now I have never have been too serious about it. Anyway, I am here now and am glad that I am. OFTB seems like a great community and I am glad to be a apart of it, I just hope that I am not too late for the party.

Between my new job and old job, I don't have time to post much anymore... and my search for a second vehicle takes up the rest of my time.

Still here reading on breaks though

Three years between posts isn't too bad is it? The SWB 5.3 is still running strong. Driving needs haven't warranted the lift left. In preparation for a 5200 mile road trip, I added a Cobra 25 lx and 4' Firefly antenna. Changing fluids and giving it a good once over before the trip. Any other suggestions before heading West?

As long as you've given the antennae a few good highway runs to make sure it doesn't whip around too much you should be good. I'd tune it to make sure you get the best range out on the highway. If it's all stock and all the fluids are fresh you should be good to go. If there's going to be any 4wd use I would pay close attention to the disconnect and make sure it's ok.

First day is Grand Rapids, MI to Salt Lake City. Then through Reno and northern CA to OR. East route has stops in WA, ID, MT, and SD. We like to drive through the night so the kids will sleep so we won't be able to see much scenery through the fields of the midwest.

The antenna is tuned but haven't gotten a call back on a radio check. Ran a couple highways over the last couple days at about 80 to see how the mount would react and it all checks out.

I forgot to mention I've got the ultra-gauge setup for the trip too. Things all seem to check out for normal operating ranges.

You might have a bad mic, I had the same issue on radio checks when I was testing my setup. I confirmed driving down with the NY guys to Tecore 9 last fall. Installed a old CB of my dads and for some reason he kept a bad mic and of course that is the one I took. :wallbash: It was so old that I could not find a replace at the truck stops, so I bought a cheap $40 CB that works like a champ.

I hope it's not the mic, as it's only been out of the box for 2 days. I plan to drive down past the local radio shop and see if we can't get a call back.

Hey, I'm Kent! Just signed up! I'm 42 and have never really been a big contributor on any forum, so this thread is perfect for me! Gotta 06 Denali that I want to lift with bigger tires. More looking for the look than the off-road functionality. Although it would be nice to take it to the trails once in a while, just don't want to trash it. Anyway, love to use the search functions on forums, which is good cause I'll be here lurking and soaking in all the info I can. Thanks!
