Rear end swap

Ok it’s time for a gear and or axle change.
I have a 2007 4.2 8 inch. I want an Ox locker rear end. I can get a used 8.6 Ext wheel base rear end 4.10. I went to another yard and they said only the 2005 and 2006 EXT wheel base 8.6 axle will work with the traction control modules because they moved them outward. The used rear end ad stated this will only work on 18 inch wheels, I have 17 inch wheels. Anybody got any info on this. I assume the bolt pattern is the same? 6x127. Are the 18 inch wheel calipers larger than the 17 inch wheel calipers or is this guy selling the rear end that simply has 18 inch wheels on it?

Wheel wise, 17" will be fine. I am not sure on the traction control modules, maybe the mean the speed sensor?

The last I knew you have to have a 2006+ rear end in order to have the correct connections for the wiring.

Yeah, you need a 2006-2009 rear end in order to be compatible with the 4 channel ABS sensors.
