Yeah s10s are dumb. And thats a pretty crappy mpg kevin....

While looking on yukon gears website all I can see they have for the front diff is 4.11 ratios??

The 4.10 and 4.11 are essentially the same.

Just swap in the 4.10 from the junkyard or car-part.com. we had to re-gear my rear and with a guy that knows what he is doing it took hours with special tools. Make sure you are really clear with whomever you buy from though what you want. I ordered 4.10 open carrier and ended up with a 3.73 with a G86 that would have been cost prohibitive to ship back.

On another note I am running 4.10 gears (from 3.42)with 285/75/16 and get about 13-14 beating around the house and I take it pretty easy most of the time. If I pay attention and take real easy, coast a lot and drive like I have no brakes I get closer to 18. Other running similar setups seem to do a little better. My speedo also runs about 10% fast, it shows about 60 when I am running 55.

I've been looking for a front diff with 4.10s in it but I haven't had good luck... I will keep looking for a front differential with 4.10s in it though since that would makes thing hella easy.... Might just have to settle for the 4.11s though...

If I were to swap in 4.11s do you think it would be worth it to just rebuild the whole front diff? Or would it be better just go all out and put 4.56s in and rebuild both the front and back differential?

If you're regearing your diff, for the work involved, it makes sense to rebuild it.
If you're going to rebuild it, it makes sense to just go with the 4.56s assuming you'll go 33s or bigger... which it sounds like you want to.

The majority of the work in upgrading gears is getting the front diff in and out. So finding a front diff with 4.10s doesn't really make a big difference other than in cost (until you run the salvaged diff for a month and the bearings start making noise cause they're worn to shit and/or the diff had water in it while it was sitting and it's all shot and you gotta pull it and rebuild anyway), but then again your idea and my idea of "hella easy" may be slightly different.


Just gotta pick what you think will work best for you.

Haha I'm seeing your logic. At this point it sounds like a rebuild of the front and rear diff with 4.56 or keep what I got, are the two most logical options.

I guess what I should do is not buy the 4.10 rear differential, find one with 3.42 or 3.73 gears so its cheaper, find a front differential (unless I can drive around without the front differential in and just rebuild my current one...?), get the gears and rebuild kits for both, and rebuild them. Then I'm just completely all set! Am I missing anything?
