Engineered Performance Front LSD

G80, GU6, GT4, GT5, WTF? This section is for gearing and driveline stuff.

by Jrgunn5150 » Mon Jan 18, 2016 11:31 pm

It was brought up in another thread, I don't recall by whom to give them credit, but someone else pointed me this way.

That said, i emailed the guy, and he is indeed still building them for our front diff's. They are a clutch type limited slip. So, not a locker, not the same as a locker, not as good as a locker, if that's clear. I want a locker, they don't make a locker. If I had a locker, I could put SAS idea's right out of my head, because my Trailblazer is like 90% of what I need it to be right now.

Anyway, if any of you are looking for some more front traction, even if it isn't locker level traction, here's the contact info.

Well that's pretty crappy, it does explain the desperate tone of the emails I found today in my spam filter.

Well, looking at this, http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Archives/Arch ... 69746.html , it's just some other diff turned down on a lathe. I own a damn lathe. To the lab!

I remembered looking into it after I read it and all the info was old, so I emailed the guy. his replies went in my spam filter, I just found them today.

I'm going to have to find a carrier to experiment with, this has the right spline count, http://www.morris4x4center.com/auburn-g ... oCQR_w_wcB

Desperate tone? Like desperate for business, or what?

Yeah, it was a little weird, like for instance, when I email you, you give me the info I want, and go away lol. He emailed me four times in response to one. They were going into my spam filter, and I didn't realize. It was kind of weird, I haven't had that kind of high pressure sales outside of furniture stores.

From looking at his now, I'm convinced he just turned one for another application down and redilled the bolt pattern for the ring gear.

All the reading I've done about that thing and I'd never seen that thread about not getting the limited slip. I had read positive things from 2008-2010 though. If someone goes with it I'll be interested in their experience.

Hey jr, you should see if he will do a group buy if anyone is interested. Could save us money. And give him buisness. Just a thought.

I'm not interested in one really, that's why I dropped the info here for the rest of you guy's. He told me everything but the price anyway lol. I've seen references to 600 bucks, and that's too high for a differential that won't significantly help me at all. I'd rather spend 600 on NOS lockright or put it towards an SAS.

I've been reading reviews, mos tpeople were happy, once they got it. One guy was saying he ordered in December and got it in September lol. Most seem to say they are happy.

I do remember someone/a few putting a powertrax/Lock-Right 1935-lr for an S-10 front 7.2" in a TB and had no complaints about it, sadly I don't remember which site it was, this one, GMT, or the old TV one.

If you really wanted a locker, I do know that the 1935-lr was discontinued, but looks like there is still a few places that seem to have them in stock, I'd still call to verify though, its been an idea i've been kicking around since I read that post(I want to say 3 years now).

The 1935-LR does fit our differentials, however it was discontinued before they even started building Trailblazers. Everyone listing one in stock, is a drop shipper. They merely import the entire catalog onto their site. I called about a dozen different companies about six months ago, not one could actually walk to the part and put their hand on it. I gave up on that more or less.

However, DTS is in my home town, I may head over there one day with a carrier and see if they have something around that can be made to work, be it full carrier or lunchbox style.

Hi,

I’m looking for Powertrax Lockrite, part number 1935-LR. You show it as in stock, but as it’s been discontinued for some time, can you please verify that you physically have one available to ship?

When I got mine back in October 2013 I called everyone I could find on the net that listed them. I think I ended up getting mine from Randy's Ring and Pinion. He was the only one that had any. He only had 3 left at that time. One of the places I called (Rocky Road?) said Richmond gear had been sold and there was no more stock. They thought more would be made when the dust settled but apparently not.

Here is a link about them being sold.

I emailed them (Powertrax) directly and they told me absolutely not. I tried US Gear, as they make the Spartan locker, and it fit's many niche porducts, and again, no way, not even thinking about it lol.

As I recall, you can't even get replacement parts for the lunch box, so the few that are out there are it. I remember Moots having a hell of a time finding one a couple years back.
