Towing a snowmobile trailer?

G80, GU6, GT4, GT5, WTF? This section is for gearing and driveline stuff.

So! I'd like to be able to pull a snowmobile trailer with atleast one snowmobile. I don't know if my tb will even be able to pull a snowmobile on a trailer. It has 3.42 gears and I'd like to upgrade the tires to like a 32 or 33 and get a 3in lift, so would i have get 4.10 gears? I'm new to this stuff.. I just want to be able to pull a snowmobile trailer and have 32s on it and know what all this is gonna cost..

You'll have no problem towing a trailer/sled combo with the 3.42s and stock tires, though a trans cooler should be added for any kind of towing. The max tire size usable with that gearing is mentioned on this forum as being 32", but I'd personally want at least 3.73s for those, or 4.10s for 33 and up. I haul a big Polaris Crew (6 man ATV) on a beefy flatbed trailer with no issues, even in my local steep mountains, with stock size rubber and 3.42s

I didn't know i could pull a trailer lol... I never really knew the towing capacity of my tb mostly because i never had a reason to tow anything till now! for now im thinking to go with 255/65/17 for tires so 30s which is a pretty big increase from my stock tires which are 245/45/17... Would i still be able to pull a trailer just fine? And you're saying if i did want 32s and pull a trailer I'd need to switch from 3.42 gears to atleast 3.73 gears? I have 4wd too

265/70r17, trans cooler and 3.42.... Boat and trailer loaded are 3200lbs. Tow capacity is 4,000lbs or a little more with weight distribution hitch.

I've toasted my brakes and warped the factory rotors towing through mountains. Now have the larger TBSS, V8 rotors. Snowmobile and trailer won't come close to that boat.

Stock tire's are 245/65r17, 29.5". You could run 245/70r17 30.5" might have a better selection of tire's. Look at this link, http://www.offroadtb.com/articles/tech- ... alculator/.

Looking at chart you should be fine with either, could also run 265/65r17 30.6". Still might want to put in a cooler with a bypass just be on the safe side.
