Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

2wd rear end swap question.

G80, GU6, GT4, GT5, WTF? This section is for gearing and driveline stuff.

by ktrain evnoy » Tue Mar 26, 2013 11:20 am

I have a 04 envoy sle I6. I work for a shop and can get a deal on a rear axel out of an 02 envoy with 4.10 with g80. I want to do the swap so i have power to both wheels when i am off pavement. Nothing crazy. Is it worth it? I heard there could be issues putting and older axel in a newer vehicle.

You are fine. The transition is 06.

The only issue you will have is the speedo being off a bit.

I feel like an idiot. I can't effectively search carpart...all I'm getting is options for the front cv axle.

Sorry :hijack:

Looks like the same parts.

Decisions....what about a used gear setup swapped onto my housing? Would that be worth the trouble?

Only if you're doing the work... I don't think it'd be worth the money for labor to regear.
