Dana 44 Swap

And so it begins. Dana 44 Front. Found out I broke two wheel studs the other day and my spacer is shot and the front end needs a ton of work. Idea is to SFA Dana 44 using the stock transfer case. Any help the SAS guys have is much appreciated.

Thats my first project is locating a near by one to have built. Recommendations for 35s gear ration 4.10 or 4.56 the truck will see highway driving

If I remember right, 35's on 4:10 is like a stock 3:42. I'd go 4:56 if that was an option.

35 w 4.10 works out to about 3.55 iirc. I would go 5.13ish if I were doing it.

Keep in mind that you will be running spacers to get a matching bolt pattern. Depending on what pattern you want you end up with spacers on both axles, or just one. Either way you will want matching width front and rear when done.

I use used car lots to get measurements quite a bit.

Research jk axles, they seem to have a bunch of unique parts and upgrades needed. It would be cool if the TB unit bearings could be used on a jk 44 to keep functioning abs.

No, my abs is gone. Leds are removed from the cluster for park brake warning, and the abs light. I wired in my own park brake warning light afterwards.

You can run 5 or 6 lug dana 44 outers on a leaf sprung 44 housing, or just run the f150 complete front. I think its 65" wide.

end bolt pattern I want is 6x5.5. Steve is my Rear going to need to be lifted higher to match a dana 44 on leaf? I am Z71 and 2.5 mark blocks.

Final Tire size is going to be 35s ish

looks like Dons recommendation is 4.88

Air or Electric Front locker and full time rear locker

Ben, if I remember right it seems like Steve and Anton needed over 12 inches of lift for the D60 which doesn't interfere with the oil pan as much as the D44.
