You can always look into getting a GM part from a dealer... I haven't been able to find a part number for it though.

So I have a question related to this. I keep ripping my outer CV boots both driver and passenger side have now ripped twice. Has anyone had this issue besides me? If so are they replacing them with a similar silicone one used on the tripod side?

This is the first time I've heard of the outers ripping. Do you have any pics?

For reference I've got several hundred miles on the silicone boot and it's been holding up.

The outers have lots of ribs on them.... only time I've ever ripped an outer is when I blew up the joint.

I dont think mine are blown up? If they were why would two of them blow up within 5000 miles... Driverside is brand new and all of this happened within 5000 miles of lifting it. Sorry for the crappy cell phone picture

I doubt yours are blown Nick. It should be very noticeable when the joint is broken.

I have the smaxx spacers with bilatein hds and 1.5" wheel spacers... I wanted to get some of the small issues fixed before I put the body lift and 33s on

Ok, there's no reason for that combo to wear your boots excessively. I'm a bit dumbfounded.

That's what I thought too... Ill just get a new set and maybe just hope for the best haha...

Have you been taking it anywhere where something might rip the boot? As far as normal wear, that seme pretty abnormal to me, I'm not even sure what would cause it, they're not at some crazy angle. Did the last ones rip in the same place?

Yup the ripped almost in the same spot... The only off roading I've done since the lift is the trails to my hunting shack but nothing crazy

Have you tried a different brand each time?
What brand are they?

Are both these shafts that have torn recent replacements?



I wonder if three recent boot failure issues are results of cost cutting... cheaper boots.

Nick, have you replaced the boot yet? Had any luck?

while taking apart my stock axle I noticed the stock axle itself had an extra snap ring to remove before the stock boot would come off.
About three nights ago I replaced the torn boot on the cardone shaft with my spare stock one that doesn't have a rip, I followed the same procedure as above only placed the stock piece on the rubber tripot surround that I removed from the aftermarket boot and hose clamped it in position, tightening it till it just started to deform. Tonight I go out and the boot has pulled off the rubber tripot piece. Since the silicone one I put on the drivers side is still in good shape I went ahead and ordered another one tonight, figure I'll toss it on in the morning.
