Gear Ratio Changes

G80, GU6, GT4, GT5, WTF? This section is for gearing and driveline stuff.

How many people here have actually changed their front and rear diffs for a better gear ratio for larger tires? Id like to change mine from a 3.42 for my 33's. Ive been shopping around looking for at least 3.73 but more into the 4's. Im just curious how many have done it as it is not a cheap upgrade by any means.

I think AlekG and I are the only ones. It's possible Teebes may have as well, but he hasn't posted about it.

Almost positive that Teebes went to 4.56's as well. So just those 3.

I haven't changed yet. Have 3.73's now with 265/70/17's, but the intent is to go bigger and I'd rather not regear twice, so I live with the down shift for now on uphill drives.

Once I have everything together, BL, gears, larger tires, new ft bumper and rocksliders, i'll swap on what I can and take the gears to a pro as that's one part I have no experience with.

Figuring to go to 4.56's with around a 35" tire. But it will be sometime late next year or the year after before I have everything and am ready. Still have a couple CC's to pay off and need to find another vehicle for my wife to use as a DD...

Was just debating this today. Sas or regear stock axles...

I'd like to change to 4.10s. But my projects account for the year is done.

I'm 4.56 as well, but planning on going lower. (37 or 40 tires)

I go off the fact that these were optioned with 4.10s stock. I'd like 4.88 or 5.13.

If 4.88s had been an option, I'd have gone with them. 4.56 is the lowest R&P you can find for the 7.25". Any lower and the teeth get too thin.
