Broken spider gears

G80, GU6, GT4, GT5, WTF? This section is for gearing and driveline stuff.

BTW... The shop I'm getting the work done had a customer leave a perfectly good G80 from a previous job. I might be able to pick it up for cheap in case anyone here is interested. Believe it will be for a 8.0, swb housing.

Awesome Greg. Fun how misfortune can turn into a good thing.

You've got OBA, are you going with an air locker?

Leaning towards the Auburn at the moment. Usage is just as easy via the push of a button with less maintenance. This article seemed to sum up the pros and cons, but was published before the etched was mainstream: http://www.4wheeloffroad.com/howto/21459/index.html

Alekg's comments on the limited slip of the auburn is also a nice feature ( although even that may require wear on the clutch plates after long term usage, think g80 usage). Of course, engaging the locker when actually needed should greatly reduce that interval.

I will post Monday about my adventure after some dash-droid-cam videos upload.

Did you mod the car mount to allow the camera to work? Mine covers the lens.

Why would one choose an air locker over an electronic one? I know when my g80 fails I want to throw it away and get something like Aleks with a limited slip. His limited slip does an amazing job, ive seen it work.
