Nice, I need to get my strobes on to the TB. I am just glad it has been slow on events for me right now.

What is your justification for having emergency strobe lights?

I did road service for awhile, which required them.

Though not in the videos,i do have amber lights as well, though they are not in working order and need to be rewired, with the exception of the plug & play mag mount i occasionally have on the roof.

Currently,i still find myself on the side of the road quite often, generally helping people with flats or out of gas when i come across them.

lights in first video were about 25 bucks from autozone. reverse light strobes were about 12,but id suggest the 30 dollar strobes for the rear instead of what i have, they have an alternating pattern.

Helping people on the side of the road does not require strobes... unless you are performing an authorized repair/maintenance, not sure if you are licensed to perform such tasks...

Now, if you had said that you ONLY use them when you are stranded on a trail... then I'd buy that. Otherwise... seems like you are just a whacker...

whacker (n):
Anyone who amasses a collection of amber or white flashing strobe lights for their vehicle so they can pretend they are important. This may also be accompanied by an antenna or black rims. Whackers are a problem because they dilute the already fragile emergency signal, which is used to serve communities by police, and fire/rescue services.

I still have my front strobe light wired in from when I was an EMT... thinking about removing it... but at the same time something in the back of my mind wants me to keep it in-case of Armageddon. I'd hope to move a little more traffic that way.

I got strobes, but they are for construction purposes. Otherwise I don't even think about using them.

I do a lot of special events around here with slow moving runners and such. I also do some work with the county emergency services for communications. We have to have a permit to run the ambers, which I have and they prefer us to have them for visibility.

I can't approve of this. The fact that you "did road service for a while" has no bearing on your current activities, nor on your necessity for strobes. :angry whip:

If you are on the side of the road quite often, then you should be using triangles or flares, not strobes meant for vehicles engaged in this professionally. This really does lead to "dilution of the emergency signal." Imagine if everybody had strobes, they'd be useless!

In addition, while I am not aware of the laws of your area, in many jurisdictions it is illegal to have strobes without a permit or professional justification, and is akin to misrepresentation as an emergency vehicle, which carries a very heavy penalty.

That said, it's your truck and you'll do what you want to it, but expect disapproval for installation of strobes in a non-professional, non-emergency vehicle.

Usually their vehicle of choice is a CVPI aswell.

I already have the antennas.
I was going to get the black Tahoe PPV wheels but I couldn't find any. That is still the plan to do later tho. I photoshopped them and they would look good on my TB.

I've got a set of black tahoe wheels and they do look good.

I'm getting strobes installed on my truck via IDOT (Illinois Department of Transportation) or at least they are footing the bill
I'm only getting mine installed because i dont like the look or damage from the stupid magnetic mount top strobe, I'm putting strobes in my parking lights front and back.

At least in Photoshop they do, I really feel like saving money and going forward with it, plus those are cheap wheels (normally found on the least equipped trucks and a lot of people swap them out for aftermarkets)

i could see if they were amber...i know in ny you dont need any permits for them...blue are for volunteer fire...and if your running them on the road unless you are volunteer fire you could get in some pretty hefty trouble...id chance to amber if i were you...

The lights are not blue, blue is specifically for LEO in this state, red is reserved for LEO,FF and very few tow companies.
They are clear LED's(granted, they can look blue in the videos, there is a very visible difference between clear and blue if you get them next to one another),and are used along with ambers and 4 ways, even made a point of putting the rears in the reverse lights instead of where it was red to avoid confusion between what im doing and a leo/ff.

Also, are not used when vehicle is in motion as that is illegal here, only when on side of the road,I do not use the triangles,i have 3 collapsible cones which have reflective markings.
