I'm doing my own version of them with Hella 500FFs and an old junk Carr light bar.

The lights were free and the bar was free, I just need some wire (I'm an electrician, I think I have that covered...)

These stock roof lights, not the cheap ones on ebay.

They dont work that well really. Are pretty cheap lights really.

I personally would rather have a DIY lightbar with good lights than try to reuse one of those.

They are kinda like our factory fog lights...
Look nice, aren't worth a damn.

Personally I'm not a fan of those or our factory fogs, but you get the picture

JD added the word to the forum's "dirty word filter" to see if he could stop me from posting that pic I've collected in response to everyone who writes the dirty word. The pic is actually not PC at all, and not the kind of stuff we normally allow on the forum. But is *is* funny. :wallbash:

That said, I do have one of their dash grab handles in the Roadiemobile - one of my coolest mods. So I'll shut up now.

all things considered, especially with the dramatic drop in price for LED light bars and the repeated reviews that confirm they're good, I'd go that route. After I stop with the current round of work a light bar is on a very short list of items to get.

I keep getting great opportunities with lights and other equipment that my friends just give away because they've upgraded or they aren't using them anymore.

I had planned on running an led light bar but a buddy upgraded from 500s to 700s so I got the 500s. (Tip: while they come with 55w h3 bulbs, you can easily install a set of 100w bulbs if you are feeding them with larger wire, which I am...)

EDIT: I just installed 100w bulbs in the two center lights and HOLY SCHNIKEYS, they are bright in daylight! I can't wait to see these at night.

You can pick up LED bars for cheap, yes. Are the cheap ones worth anything... no.
I have a rough country 12" bar and it sucks. Light output is horrible.
If you want a LED bar with a well designed reflector and good light output, be ready to spend a nice chunk of change

Lots of local guys are having good luck with cheaper led bars. I keep debating trying one.
