led light bar mounting

Breaker 1-9, anybody got a copy? Any discussion or mods relating to electrons and wires go here.

So I took a chance and bought a 42" light bar, and am trying to figure out how to mount it on the roof rack. Any ideas? It is 44" wide, by the way.

Once I get it on ill post some pictures, and update in a couple months to see how reliable it is.

If the light bar doesn't reach to the rails you could always get a piece of flat steel and use that in place of a square bar. Minor fabrication involved. But like stated pics would help.

Wow, that is one hell of a long shift you work!

You could do like I did for my scanner antenna mounting (3 of them) and run a 1x1 square tube across the roof racks. I made my own insert with a welded nut on the bottom side of the insert (had to grind a little off the top of the nut) and then bolt down the square tube. I've used this same idea to mount 2 flat steel pieces to hold my MX7000 amber lightbar when I had it on the trailblazer.

for my roof rack I took a large washer and cut part of the top and bottom off so it was only 1 Inch top to bottom. I then put it on a bolt and tightened a nut up real tight. This effectively gave the bolt a wide head to catch ont he sides of the rail. I made 4 of these and slid them in the rail of the roof mount and set the rack on and put another washer and bolt on top and bolted it down.

Where the wind fairing goes, I had two fastening holes on each end that coincided with the mount points on the light bar's feet. I rigged up a secure mount based on this and washers/nuts. I ended up selling the rack and the bar to a friend. The rack and the tire up top was a gas killer and made it top-heavy. Coupled with disco'ed sway bars, I wasn't comfortable. I'll end up buying another bar again because the light output was absolutely out of this world, though I'll have to fab up a separate mount for it.

FYI, depending on the rack and its placement, half of the light output will hit the roof and reflect up because it sits far back.

Get that sucker up front on the roof. Get some blind hole rivet nuts and mount it wherever you want.

Get the blind hole nut-serts with the sealer and be good to go.
