So I am pretty sure that I'm getting a CB antenna and radio for Christmas/Birthday this year, and I'm thinking of how I should mount the antenna.
Roof rack plans rule out a central roof mount drilled in, and the antenna I've got on my wish list is a tunable tip 4' Firestik II. I have debated mounting it where James has his, but I've noticed that it seems to be less and less straight every time I see a new pic of it. I've also debated getting a universal door jamb mount and mounting it slightly higher than James's location on the reinforced sheet metal of the rear pillar. A hood mount is undesirable to me, due to the amount of brush that scrapes over the front of the hood when I go wheeling. That, plus low branches make me want to keep the antenna as close to the rear as possible, even though I know I'll have a more directional signal due to the position.
Also to consider are plans for mounting a CDMA cell antenna (powered), 2m/70cm dual-band antenna, and GPS receiver antenna. I know the GPS antennae are small, so I'm not worried about that one, but I'm worried about placing all the antennas at the back and possible interference between them. Any thoughts on this from the engineers?
