After many shakey videos from unstable hands I finally got around to making a dash camera mount. I had been using a Droid X (free handed) cause it was the only thing that I had for "HQ" videos. Now I'll be using a Nikion Coolpix which has FAR better HQ video capability. I hade some 1/4" thick Aluminium left over after the mount I made for my CB radio. So with what I had left over I decided to make a Dash Cam mount.
My first design failed as the mount was too low and didn't offer a good angle. This was how it mounted.
It was sitting way to low to offer a good view of the terrian. As you can see.
I then put the project on hold until I could come up with another way to mount it. Which I got this
It looks top heveay and it was. I offset the weight of the camera with some weights that I had from my broken Airsoft guns. I think it could use a couple more but we will see. Its held down by a peice of velcro which probally isn't the best but its actually pretty solid and dosn't move a whole lot. I did have to shim the sides with some pennys to keep it from rocking side to side.
This will be the view.
I don't have any video right now but will soon as I get it back on the road.
