Discussion of photos, video, cameras, and post-processing.

So finally after 7yrs of procrastinating I took a hike up the Deep River and took some pics. Excuse if some are a little rough, I haven't done any touch ups yet.

When leaving you got to floor it if traffic is bad, access to this area is off a 70mph hwy.

The problem with the Trailblazer is, people think you know what you're doing.

That's a lot of water. How big is the area?

Just some hiking/fishing trails along the river, this is a few miles from where it meets the Haw river to form the Cape Fear river. I've heard of some people canoeing parts of it, might try when I get enough practice in the canoe.

wonder why they call it deep river? ;-)

Rory, you are standing west of US 1 when you took the picture of the bridge, right? When we lived near 40/42 we would put our boat in off of 42 and run up to the fork and take the left fork.
I seem to recall up near US1 it getting rocky, is this the same area?
Seems like we could get our bass boat pretty close to US1 and then that was pretty much it!

A little further down there is an old mill or something right on the river, I think there is a lake/pond above it but water would run out the side of the building. That was a pretty neat site. That area was one of my favorites to fish in that river.

If we took the right fork, it would take us up toward Jordan lake but the area wasn't as pretty so we always took the left fork. I didn't realize that was Deep River.

Just out of curiosity, what exact section is this, according to AW's web-site?

http://www.americanwhitewater.org/conte ... /state/NC/

Looks like there could be some good surf waves, even though its on the lower spectrum, of what I normally like to hit. With some water, you should be just fine in a canoe.

Yeah Mike I was on the west side of US1, The right at the fork is the Haw river, less scenic but much larger.

I was near the end of this section, Deep [NC] 6. US Route 15/501 Bridge to US Route 1 Bridge

I parked under the new US1 bridge, the section on AW runs a bit further to the old US1 bridge.
