I have to admit - I actually prefer the current photo on my build thread, but since it is on pavement, it was disqualified...

I Think that photo is worthy of the front cover on the calendar!!

IMHO, I think we should vote for the best cover photo for the calendar.

Its a lil late to change it up. James has never disappointed w calendar before. Next year we can start in October n vote if he does not mind.

I know its a decent amount of work as is but next year me or someone can volunteer and help. Maybe do a vite on all 12 or even two versions since we have a bunch more members than when this started.

I was not saying that James is not doing a good job and he hasn't disappointed us. Just suggesting

Its a good thought. In the past I've been lucky to get 12 good shots, so there wasn't as much of an opinion needed. We'll see how this years goes. Typically, the best shot does not get cover, mainly because cover doesn't get much display time. Normally the cover is just a good group shot. Might mix it up this year, who knows.

At the end of the year, mine get sliced up and ALL the good shots get put up in the garage.

I should say that 100% of the shots in the ORTB calendar are garage-worthy. Back when we did calendars at Trailvoy, and I was the ONLY offroader there with good scenery on my trails and I had to hold my breath and throw a tantrum to get included, mine was the only picture I ever saved. I mean, who needs pics of yet another frickin' lowered SS taken with a tilted camera angle? :finger:

I have an autographed Roadie calander pic from 2012 on display in my place...

Just sayin... it's okay for others to be jealous.

To get away from the discussion about what picture is on the cover...

Can we turn this into some wallpaper for my computer? Something like expedition portal does?

Lots of great pics...

Thanks,

Feel free to start a wallpaper thread Brent, for people to add to. Just make up the rules in the first post. Or, if you want an 'official wallpaper' thread for me to issue wallpapers based on the calendar content, we can discuss that here. Wasn't exactly sure what you were wanting.

Either way would work. Expo watermarks the photos with the months calendar. That would make it more official.

I'll see if I have time to play with it. The problem with wallpapers, is that there are so many different sizes.

Also, I'm a little behind on working on the calendar. I used to be able to work on it some from work at my old job, but here they block photobucket and many other photo sharing sites... and I don't have photoshop on this computer either. What can ya do I guess. Just having trouble getting free time at home.

Brent - if you mean something like this low res sample, then there is a script for the free image editor "The Gimp" that makes rendering calendars pretty simple. This would let you use which ever picture you want for which ever month you want in what ever size you want.

The script will do either single months or let you span multiple months on the same picture.

Of course, this assumes some basic knowledge in using photo editors...

This can be automated with command line tools like ImageMagick, but is is still a pain.

Of course, I am a Linux using, command line junkie, so I have learned how to automate a lot of crap with the command line...

Brent - Another option for you is instead of hard coding a calender into a picture, you can take a look a the myriad of desktop widgets that are out there. Calendar widgets are pretty common.

For Windows 7, there is the native Desktop Gadgets: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/wind ... s-overview
For Mac, there is the native dashboard or the more complex but insanely flexible Geektool.
For Linux, it depends on the Desktop Environment, but KDE Plasmoids are my favorite.
