Below was the initial round of the rank system, and our subsequent discussion. To make things clearer, I will start a new thread with the final product.

ORTB is now offering a new feature dubbed the "Trail Experience Rank".

You will notice a 'Rank' category now located under my profile data, to the left of my post. This is a profile entry that can only be changed by admins.

Currently there are 3 attainable ranks:

  • Trail Rated: The member has been part of at least one posted trail ride*.
  • Trail Boss: The member has planned and been in charge of at least three posted trail rides. Trail rides must have at least two vehicles.
  • Expedition Rated: The member has been part of at least one posted trip at least 5 consecutive nights long.

*posted trail ride = A trail** summary thread with details of where, who, and pictures!
**trail = Off-road park or forest/desert trail. Slinging mud in a pit in your back yard does not count.

If you feel you fit under one of these categories, please let us know by posting the appropriate links to the write-ups in this thread. We will not keep track of your trail records; you must request the rank that you feel you deserve in this thread.

The goal of the 'trail experience rank' is to show at a glance the experience of our members. At the same time is is designed to push the members to attain the next rank and give people a reason for posting trail write-ups. Happy wheeling.

If not for the compacted, wet snow on some of the uphills, I've have done it in 2WD with the G80, but it is an off-road thread... even if it is a stock TB :viking:

I donno where'd you put me but, I've done my fair share of wheeling. Did a trip a while back with Mario, one more recently with Brendan, and organized the Wharton Trip November 1st (however i did not lead due to 4x4 issues)...There have been plently of other adventures but some don't have pics, and others just weren't with members.

Did expeditions 10 years ago, but never bothered with pictures. Cant get that many days off in a row now.

Trailboss...Does that mean in charge of all organization and planning or being the trail leader? Does it matter if I have no trailvoy's to wheel with. Example..leading a couple jeeps around the badlands.

Will take some pics next time at the park and be Jeeped.

If i scan and post older pics froma a previous vehicle, does that count? I havent even had my truck a year and been spending most eekends building it.

Hardtrailz you definately deserve the title... as a former and current offroader even if your just starting to wheel the TB!

JD- Trail Boss would be a nice Title at the bottom of mine too...

I will follow the guidelines, but I just wanted some things cleared up. I got 13 years of lifting and wheeling 4x4s but never used a camera or computer much til this year, so all i got are 35mm pics and usually of the aftermath

...give people a reason for posting trail write-ups.

The rank is based on your write-ups on this forum. If you have a writeup on another forum, this gives you a reason to transfer it over.

Tom, if you have organized and led 3 trail rides that are posted here on ORTB, post links to the 3 rides, and I will update your rank. Otherwise, post one link to a trail ride, and I will update your rank to trail rated.

HardTrailz, to count as being a trail boss, you just have to plan and be the leader on 3 posted trips. As long as one other vehicle was with you, it counts. Doesn't have to be a TB following you.

Keep in mind that these should be legal trails or at a designated off road area. As an example... if you recall MarkMC taking his truck through a field on the OS... that does not qualify for a trail rating.

If you authored a thread and hosted pics - that would be swell! The more the merrier. Just try to be careful about pulling other folks' stuff.

Wait until you see and take the first 30 degree sand dropoff. Then we'll see if you get the rating after examining your trousers. :poke:

Oh okay, I've been down an incline that steep before... that's the descent from that hill I showed off in my other post. Traction doesn't look optimal however... will definitely be airing down for that. Inclines don't bother me as much as off-camber stretches :pale:

I'm with you man... but i haven't been driving that long. I can count at least 15 voyages I've been on in the last year and a bit... Only 3 or 4 i have photos of.

Does this mean that someone who has been off road many a times should have a lower rank than someone who has only been out occasionally and has photos? That doesn't seem right.
