My wife and I have a joint account that our bills are deducted from and otherwise we have our own separate accounts. <br /><br />Please don't take this personal, but it would be A COLD DAY IN THE HOTTEST PART OF HELL before I have to ask permission to spend the money I earned.

X4 or 5 or whatever the hell we are up to!

I understand what you guys are saying, but my wife keeps my bank account in-line. If it wasn't for her, we'd be riding on a solid front axle Blazer, but have no money for bills, and no food on the table. I'm kinda bad with money. So I found a way around that. Anytime I want to do something to the truck, I have her brother tell her it needs to be done. He went to school for auto mechanics, and she'll listen to what he says.

Just got a know how to work it. We've had a joint account since I was 18. She is definitely my rock. I tell her I'd have lots of toys without her but I'd be the poorest man alive.

Very well put my friend. What you say is true.

It does depend on your background. My parents were VERY ignorant with their money, so I resolved at a young age not to be like them. Another benefit I have is my wife being a financial advisor, so if I'm having trouble she knows how to suggest what I do with and where I put my money.

Man, you guys must have some rough wives... we went joint as soon as we got married. I don't know how the rest of you pay for anything! Who pays for dinner and that sort of thing? Ouch...

Anywho... wanted to let the guys that bought some decals recently to know that there may be a bit of a delay in shipping. I'm in the middle of a big move right now, so I'm hoping I can find the right box with the decals in it quickly. Sorry for the delay guys!

I think the thing about marriage is you have to figure out what works for you, every couple is different.
When we were both working we added each other to our previously existing accounts. Her check went into hers and my check went into mine. We divided up the bills etc.

When it worked out my wife could be a stay at home mom, my check goes into one of our joint accounts. I manage it but we discuss anything we purchase of any significance.

Works well for us. I have a gas account that is also play account and joint is for everything else.

With 140 mile a day commute it does, but the truck hardly gets fuel anymore. The DD Impala gets about 29 mpg, so still filling up a couple times a week, but since the TB is weekend toy its 15 mpg doesnt seem bad. It does better on country roads than it does on highway and thats about all it sees lately. I also re-tuned for premium since it only gets a tank or two a month through it. Seems to run nicer too.

True. If I ever had to buy a hybrid, that'd be my choice. I've driven many hybrids at work and the Volt is by far the nicest, and unfortunately the most expensive.

I know it is off topic but going with the current discussion. My wife just bought, allowed me to buy, and actually point out and said "You should get that" about $400 dollars in tools in the last week. I am the proud new owner of all this:

The next day I went and spent a gift card and additional money on the circular saw, jig saw, sander, and air compressor attachments. Today, walking through Lowes after pricing new wood flooring she saw a table saw that was on the black Friday sale and told me that I needed to buy that. I didn't argue.

I love my wife!
