I'd like to get some opinions on a "camping" subforum.

It seems camping is becoming more of a topic of discussion from time to time, and is somewhat integral to many of our off road trips.

Would you guys see this as a topic that could generate enough discussion among this board to keep a new forum full? Is this a topic that anyone has much interest in discussing here?

Just figured I'd throw it out there.

Sure James why not. Maybe camping along with non-truck related supplies. Could contain the bug-out threads also? Or should those topics be left in 'Off Road Discussion'?

Sure, it could be a "Camping/Survival" subforum. Good call.

I think that it would be worth it to have this. I don't know how many times that I have been out where I thought I had everything that I needed, or my buddies thought the same thing just to find out that 100 miles away from paved roads and the closest store or gas station, some one forgot something. I knwo what I am planning on doing when I get the time after my mover to bliss I will be building a camping box or 2 just so I can throw it in my truck when I head out. But I think that is worth it.

I mean talk about what you would need for how many days, prices on gear and equipment, what gear and equipment is good and what have you had no luck with. I dont go that often cause of the army but I know I will be more I hope when I hit TX, nd would love to learn more and read more about this.

It's pretty much the reason I lifted mine. I've got several remote campsites where it's sometimes necessary to have 4x4, and it was scraping at stock height last year. I was looking at rooftop tents also, and with a couple of you guys going that route, I may look into it more again. Not sure how much discussion it would generate though, relating to our vehicles...

i think its a great idea because when you look at reviews for camping equipment online you get either a really good one which sounds to good to be true or a really negative one probably posted by someone who is a complete idiot and set something up wrong. so i agree with everyone else when they say its good to get ideas on equipment as well as having topics talking about whats good to bring for certain areas and camp sites.

+1 for Yes, you could even move the camping tips thread over.
we would just have to decide if camping trips went in the camping thread or the offroad trips thread.

Couldn't hurt anything. I know I have been looking into camping as of late. It would be nice to have a resource readily available in a place I regularly visit that would have advice, reviews, and other cool discussions to help me prepare for any excursions I might make.

Great idea for everyone to gather up their best ideas and maybe keep track in more populated areas as to whats open and closed.

I don't see any need to have camping trips there, but anything else is game.
