Good point Ed. I hadn't thought of that. I was originally thinking along similar lines to Dave.

But I personally seem to like the idea of keeping the 'enemy' further away before I see them. The issue with dense woods is that you have no clue when someone's 20 feet away. I feel like I'd rather have no clue if someone was a half mile away.

I dunno, maybe there's no perfect way to do it.

No perfect way indeed. You're better off with a larger "clan" or smaller community of adjacent properties and neighbors. As a whole that would push the perimeter further out and each household is EWR (early warning radar) for the others. Simple CB or handheld radio comms and a simple code. The "lone wolf" holding out by yourself with just your immediate family isn't ideal. The passive/defensive community is preferred.

reminds me, geese are actually pretty good watch dogs. People don't think much of them but they usually sound the alarm and can be quite aggressive.
I expect if you get in a bind they actually taste better than a pit bull as well

Geese are nasty disgusting critters that i want know where near anywhere I am sleeping.

They are greasy to eat, but with low temp dehydration, them make decent jerky.

I've never knowingly eaten dog so you could be right, but the idea of eating dog is worse to me than eating greasy goose.

Hillman Ferry by LBL. Just a little glamping. Im in a '94 popup, so much better than the ground. Trying to get her into the expedition style camping.... She wants an RV or nice camper. So we'll see who wins.

That sounds like fun. Last time I got to go camping was when the wife and I went to Turkey Bay. Im trying to make it back down there soon, with the Samurai this time. Ill let you know if i do.

Definitely. They have had lots of heavy equipment in there trying to fix the trails. The main trail washed as well as many of the secondary trails. I hipe yo get in there in the next couple weeks

I was hoping for sometime in early June. We'll see though. There are also some people I met, last time I was there, that are pretty cool. Was going to try and plan a trip around the next time they go down. Haven't heard anything from them, as of yet.
