Look at my guide books and google earth, some of the BLM and the "tough" trails don't offer much of anything in terms of views unless you don't mind two canyon walls. I personally still think the White Rim area is great for a first day.

Alright, tomorrow I'm putting in for the Moab week. It shouldn't be a problem since it's not a desireable time of the year

I have no problem with white rim, it seems to be a really nice easy trail that's basically a gravel road with lots of amazing scenery. It's probably a great first day trip. Given a lack of other options I say we do this for the first day.
With that said, I'd like to see a day that is at least as difficult as the hardest parts of Tecore. From my reading there's plenty of options available. This really needs to be posted in the extremely near future.

Rory modified things a bit and I like his version better

ORTB.com 5year anniversary event!

MOAB, UT

Sept-20th-24th 2014 - 4 nights & 5 days

We are planning a event to celebrate this milestone of our forum and it's members!

This cost nothing to attend other than paying your own way like any other trip. We will post how/where to get permits and costs as soon as we can, just getting these dates out here so anyone who wants to attend has time to plan and save, we know this is a big trip for most members.

The event will begin the morning of Saturday September 20th, meeting at The Red Stone Inn at 8 am Sept 20th (it's one of the few places that isn't several hundred a night and it's available on the 19th.)

I'd say there are areas of the White Rim as hard as TECORE. However we turned off onto other trails to explore. It's also not all gravel/dirt road. Once you are out by the rim, it's more like driving on actual rock, it's pretty rough. So we can have a little fun on the first day. But most will be more interested in the scenery. Also, the White Rim allows for a tad bit more "speed".

Watching Expedition Overland episodes on Youtube today and really makes me wish I could afford this trip.

Getting excited about this, need to catch my breath so I can catch up and post some info. Work has been slammed, and adjusting to the kid is fun. Plus JorDanee is jumping ship careerwise and I've been taking some side work. Whew. Didn't want anyone to think I'm slacking. Plus I still have the mission write up, ok I'm slacking. Sorry.

I found time, we'll just need to proof read it after it's done, probably going to have some typo's. Only cost $4 bucks US. Thanks India! :lurk:

Not surprised, it's a very nice hotel.

This is pretty common. We might not be able to get a hotel as a group.

To get a group rate we will need to know how many in our party first. I will be at the Hampton Inn as I said. I can stay there for cheap because I have points with them.

As of now I can't go, for the first time in 7 years I couldn't get a date in Sept. I'm still waiting to see if there's someone I can swap with, but it doesn't look good.
