Similar to my issues. My inner CV shaft bearings seized (I'm assuming they injested water (plus, you can't check the disconnect's fluid level, it's separate from the diff)) and wore down causing excessive play. Because of the play, the engagement collar wouldn't engage.
I'm waiting on parts right now. Having to replace both bearings, trust bearings, and the outer seal.
At least... that's what happened to mine. For now I've jerry-rigged mine to be always engaged... so at least I'm not without the 4x4 option.
