If I recall right, pulling someone out using reverse is really hard on the differentials. Thats how Bill blew up his rear diff (coupled with the axle being bent), and I remember James saying that the way the pinion and rear gear mesh together is less than optimal in reverse, which is only further aggravated due to our larger tires .

But still, good job! :thumleft: -Wahugg

Yep. Pulling in reverse is less desired but in that sandy stuff there an ATV could pull a stuck truck out. Seen it done. Minimal risk and Matt easily has more experience than most around here and really does not need his choices questioned.

Wallace, that ford was very very lightly stuck. It really just took a gentle tug. If you were there you wouldn't of thought twice about doing the same thing. It was damn near the first thing we saw once we got in the park and it turned out to be fairly indicative of what was ahead.

I questioned Matt a lot, after you lay under his truck and start bending frame braces back down to reach bolts you realize you could probably learn a lot from this asshole.

HARDTRAILZ wrote:4 lo turns stabilitrac off. I never leave 4 lo at the Badlands. Why weren't you in 4lo?

It was funny about that. I was pretty much useless in this area cause I've never been around a vehicle with stabilitrac. But we noticed early on that stabilitrac was bad. Matt had mentioned it isn't active in 4 low earlier in the day and he went to 4 low specifically to turn it off a few times... not knowing the entire time that we could have just turned it off with a push of a button.
We were leaving the park rather late after trying to recover Matt (regulator) when he was reasonably close to flopping it on the side. We got to the main "road" and were trying to get out since we were already late leaving. We had just switched all our vehicles to 4 hi and then Matt ran up the gravel hill to take a look from high ground cause nobody was certain of where we were at other than we were close. That's when we (Matt/Moots) started following up the hill in 4 hi and the stabilitrac basically turned us sliding down the hill sideways until we were properly stuck and at a very uncomfortable angle.

I will get pictures posted in the next day or so. I came home to Tracey not feeling very well and we took her into the VA emergency room Monday morning. It turned out that she has a 3mm and 5mm kidney stones. They had her sent over to one of the local hospitals for surgical removal. I am in the waiting room now waiting to hear how things went. They already said they are keeping her tonight and I think I will probably stay here with her. I will get them posted as soon as I can though.

Never had them myself but my boss just passed a stone and it crippled him for a couple days. Hope everything goes well for your wife, and good luck to you those chairs are a bitch to sleep in bud!
