I just got in. I cut the sidewall of my 10ply BFG's on a rock. The same obstacle that claimed Mario's G80. Put my spare on and completed the rest of Tecore. On the last 15 miles of my trip home, my truck picked up a wicked vibration/wobble. After I parked at school, I crawled under the truck to look. Couldn't find anything obvious. The ball joints look good, tie rods are really tight. Didn't see anything obviously wrong with the tires (no bubbles or broken cords, no missing wheel weights) Tried to wiggle the rear drive shaft and it was super tight. When I have more time I need to jack the truck up and spin the rear drive shaft and check the wheel hubs.

The wobble got so bad, rolling along at 15 mph I could see the front of the truck shaking back and forth. i tried putting it in neutral while rolling down a hill and it still wobbled. Hopefully it is something I can fix in the parking lot.

When I first realized how bad it was, I cringed and expected the hear the bang clunk clunk of the rear drive shaft coming apart and smacking the bed.

Otherwise I had a great time. Meeting the first timers and seeing them have a blast is always fun. Taking shit from everyone about my truck is even better.

JD: Great seeing you again. Glad we found German River and got into some cool new trails. Sorry about your tire.

Mike Bossier: Glad I could help you fix your driveshaft. Truck is sweet as always. Thanks for the air up. Glad your daughter had a blast. And as always, great seeing you.

Mike (firefox): Great meeting you man. I like the truck. Hope to see you on the trails again.

Erik: Truck is friggin awesome. You're a pretty alright guy. Really glad you made it down. It was a pleasure to wheel with you.

Robert (TBYODA): Nice meeting you as well. Glad you made it. hopefully you were able to figure out some of your plans for your truck and hopefully you'll be back

Rory: GET THAT DAMN ROCK OUT OF YOUR BACKING PLATE!

uploading now...

We did 180 miles on location. About 120 offroad. This was the biggest turnout of any TECORE. We also did the most miles of any TECORE. We explored new trails and found some cool stuff in the German River area. We got to camp late both nights. Which I didnt mind. Saturday was a long day on the trails.

Breakage list.

Friday: Erik bent an inner tie rod

Saturday:
Mike Bossier over extended his front drive shaft and seperated the slip yolk. A couple teeth got mushroomed and a couple got clocked when the joint came apart. I had some small files in my tool box and we able to clean up the spline on the shaft and and the yolk. Grease the shit out of it, and hammer it back together. Re-connected the front u-joint and good to go.

Myself: Cut a tire

JD: flat tire to unknown reasons.

1lowoneton (kenny) responded to my post on GMC4x4. He guessed loose lug nuts from my spare tire is the cause of the vibe/wobble. I totally believe it. I'll be checking that tomorrow. Hopefully it is that simple and the studs aren't totally f-cked.

Yep, I was going to say loose lugnuts, as well, or something between the WMS and the wheel.

So am I and I live just as close as Mike (Firefox) does. You would've killed yourself on that drive though unless you had a passenger come along. If all goes as planned I'm supposed to get married in June and I might consider the spring trip my "bachelor party".

I had a great time, meeting everyone was real nice. Seeing all the TB in person did really help me a lot with my plans. (Now to convince the wife ;) ) I have bunch of pictures and many videos I will be making a YouTube channel soon and add the links here. Here few pictures.

Did Erik hit something with the tie rod, or was that just a matter of holding too tight on the wheel, or getting in a squeeze?

Not sure. He thinks he might of hit it on something. And in my picture, there is a little mark on it.

Probably a combination, I think Erik admitted he was holding on pretty good.

But those straight tie rods he had looked really spindly compared to the stock TB tie rods. That might have been the other half of the problem.

Oh - and great trip guys. This was one to remember. Thanks for making this a great trip.
