I heard that this park (Stokes State Park) is nice and legal for off-roading in north NJ, does any one have more information about it? I will like to plan one day trip during the next month (July) and if you want to join to the trip also let me know.
This will be my first time off-roading and I will like to go with some one else.

I'm possibly interested depending on the week in July. I've never been to Stokes State Park. I've been to Wharton SF, and a bunch of state forests around Lacey, Stump Tavern, and Jackson areas including behind 6 Flags. MY understanding is, any marked road/fire access road is legal to wheel in SF in NJ. There are these tell tale white signs that mark the said roads.

I looked into Stokes for my first "off road" trip with Dave. There are about 10 miles of "legal" wheeling trails at Stokes; the "legal" stuff is passable by an AWD vehicle.

Anything fun/exciting else falls into the grey area and is restricted/off limits. I'd stick to planning in SNJ, but that's just me. Stokes is alright...its just more scenic/nature instead of off roading. You just need to figure in what you are trying to do that day.

I live about five miles from it... Stokes is good for camping site seeing but not to many trails... The more local trails are in the surrounding areas but off of the campsite area. Most of the stuff is getting blocked off lately but there are still a few spots to ck out within a five to ten min drive. Buttermilk fall and some areas in walpack... Any questions let me know... July is tight for me,I'm getting married and honey moon set... So like the 13th to twenty something is out for me...

Darring, if you'd be interested in going down to South jersey, I hook you up with our group and show you some other spots. We can take you where I took Matt and Jason on our Thanksgiving trip. Josh knows where and who. We can possibly get a bigger group going in July.

I might be able to join a day trip in July... Its been a LONG time since the truck got dirty. I've been busy as hell this last year but I think I might finally have some time very soon.

And don't be afraid of SNJ. If you treat it well and play smart, it'll do good by you in return. Just get a CB.

And yay! It'd be great to see you out on the trail Mario.
