This last Friday I finally met Randy (bgwolfpack). Great guy! Need to get out and wheel with him soon.

He had scheduling issues and had to head home early, but we were close enough that I decided to take a little run through some new areas. It turned into a much longer voyage than I thought it would.

First, a pose shot from some elevation.

Randy had given me an idea for a "scenic" way to drive home. I didn't quite end up where him and I talked about, but found another path in Delorme(ToPo), Road 53.

I ended up taking a few spurs (trail ADD). One in particular had some cuts in it, but looked traversable. I made it to the end and back...

... But these rocks touched me in inappropriate places.

Whoops.

It's bent a bit worse than the pic shows. Fortunately my gas tank came away unharmed. I also managed to pop the left side of my bumper cover off in this area. Fortunately it popped right back on, no paint damage.

Moving on, I first tried NFD road 5301, as Delorme indicated in went through to paved roads in the direction I wanted to go.

Ugh... not so much.

Pretty good sized cut. Could have made it over with no bumper... but it looked like the trail on the other side fell victim to a slide.

Decided to head back to the "main" road 53. It was longer, but also went through.

Hmm, snow. It's May. Not too high of elevation.

I gave up right about there... turned around and headed back the way I came... all the way out.

Defeat. Sigh.

Nice. My lil crossmember there is bent. Wondered about replacing it with a plate.
I hate to advocate weird chemicals, alcohol, violence or insanity to anyone...but
they've always worked for me.

I think I posted a pic on the OS about what mine looked like when I threw it away. It's been replaced by a new flat strap steel one that reinforces the Neilage gas tank armor. (Thread here.)
