Looks like my schedule and Zero's are coming together for a weekend outing to Borrego - same initial plan as the November one. Hawk Canyon camping. Couple of day rides. We should be able to get out there before dark on Friday.

Anybody else free, or want to meet up there on a day trip for Sat or Sun?

Just started my new job, so I won't be able to head out there for a while, and it's too long of a drive to justify just going out there for the day to the gf. Let me know if you guys end up going somewhere closer any time soon.

Well, I may (still quite uncertain) be able to meet you guys this weekend, otherwise I'll try and swing down to LA to meet you sometime, Zero. It'll be nice to meet another member, so please let me know what'll work.

Will do. I have this weekend off, but not enough money for roadtrip gas, so I'll see if I can't head down to LA sometime next week for the evening or something.

Safe trip and Happy trails. I get to play in the snow, but starting to really think it would be nice out west in the sand.

One thing is for sure, these rear Avalanche shocks just don't cut it for me. I am def. gona' switch to the Rancho; because they are adjustable, or the BDS ones that Roadie helped design because they road realllly well. My font Billstein shocks did a pretty damn good job. but I'm sure my older springs are ready to come out one day soon. so the icon coil overs may be in my future sometime soon

I cant wit to have the money for either the v8 5.3 swap or at least a 3.73 gearing. having the larger truck id really like to have the extra power, especially for the long drives, and big hills.

I also now have a whole new list of camping stuff i didn't even think of. hahahaha man this is a lifestyle, not a hobby.

kip the 5.3, go with a 5.7 ls1... That, or you may find it cheaper to go with a custom turbo setup. That's what I'd look into doing.

I definitely hear you on the camping stuff though. I've spent a ton of time looking at Cabela's stuff, and already have a fat wish list.

Glad you made it safe. As for camping stuff, a big portion is needs vs wants. Takes little to camp rough, but you can add tons of comforts. I like a tent, sleeping bag and one burner stove usually or a campground with everything including electric.

Id prefe to go with the 5.3. because it is a stock option for the truck and finding pats and fitting it in should be easier. Plus I am not looking for a ton more power like the LS1 makes. Another reason I want the 5.3 is the cylinder deactivation feature. Any help on gas would be welcome. Plus on the EXT model, the v8 is rated to have a 2mpg increase in fuel economy over the 6cyl.
