I wanting to plan a trip in Northern California. I am originally from Redding Ca. and know there is an OHV park on the west side Of Shasta Dam. Use to play with my first 4X4 over there. I also have done some hunting up in the mountains from Trinity Lake clear to Mt. Shasta. I know a lot of the roads up in those mountains but must of them are logging roads. I also have been and played in the Like Pillsbury OHV Area. I have also driven from Lake Pillsbury to Willows on I5. Roughly 100 miles of dirt. I now live in Santa Rosa Ca. Id be willing to drive a few hundred miles to meet up with a group for a few day trip. I would love to do something this year. I was thinking late September early October. If any one is interested please let me know. I don't have any wheeling friends around me. I do know a couple Toyota guys in Sacramento that may be interested as well. I will try to get some maps posted and some links to the OHV parks

Do you have any of the traditional trail books for the area? Massey/Wilson, etc.?

I've done two trips in the more southern Sierra Nevadas on the west of the ridge, and four to the east side. Nothing as far north as you except for 1 day on the Rubicon west of Tahoe.

I know I'm a newbie on here with low post but I have been outdoors my hole life and love camping and 4wheeling and would like to get something put together.

I did see the FJ. Lets check it out before we make theroadie drive that far. Can you get to Lake Pillsbury from Indian valley with out touching pavement? I might be able to take this trip early Sept. Id like to come check out Prairie City sometime. I'm pretty busy in Aug. I know a few guys in Sac that wheel out 50 or 80 somewhere not to sure. they both have Yota runners.

But back to a bigger trip somewhere else. I would really like to do a good three day camping trip some where with a good sizes group. As I mentioned i would be willing to drive south a bit. If Roadie wants to help plan something a little more central towards Fresno or somewhere else towards Shasta I'd be totally down and ready for to start the foot work. Maybe if we plan a Shasta we can get some of the Washington boy's to come join us.

I basically bought ALL the books for trails in five states. Love to help plan trips and coordinate even if I'm not going, with you guys making the decisions according to your experience levels. I'd love to be there, though to add a layer of recovery safety.

Last time I was in that area, it was an epic three-truck meet, centered east of Shaver Lake, uphill from Fresno. Me, Teebes, and JamesDub.

Okay got a weekend I'm thinking of. Its October 5th 2012- October 8th 2012. Lake county area,Indian Spring I'm really not into for this trip although I wouldn't mind a day trip over there. Eagle lake area sound good but is a good 6 hour drive for me. Shaved lake is 4.5 hours. Just reread the trail ratings and I'm comfortable the nothing more then a rating of a 3. Roadie can you point me in the right direction of acquiring some California Trail Maps. I would not mind seeing some of the eastern California mountains. I have seem plenty of the Trinity Alps area.
