Well, this trip is multi purpose. 1) to scratch my 4wd itch. 2) to reconoiter for my big trip in march.
This is going to be a very similar route to the one Bill and I took a few weeks ago. I deviate only slightly until i'm more confident in my trip planning skills. Especially since I'll be leading about 5 other vehicles for a 2 day trip. I'd rather not look retarded and blind to them.
Going to start off throught the Blair Vallies. Then on Canyon Sin Nombre, into Seco Del Diable, down the Diablo Drop off. Then we'll take a scenic tour leg west to the base of Heart Attack hill :awesome: (no we're not going to go up it :drive: ) back track to Seco Del Diablo. Maybe check out a few of the side canyons. Then depart via Fish Creek Wash. Then we're on pavement for a lil bit. Then hit Buttes pass and Hawk Canyon. Up Borrego Mtn Wash. Back track to black top. Head west and our final trail will be through Grapevine canyon.
I've got the address' and phone numbers of nearest Hospitals, fire departments, and police. I'm trying to mark the nearest places for gas on my map. I plan on doing a gear/vehicle check of everyone in trail. It's gonna be BYOS as far as camping goes. Mr. Roadie is going to lend me his SPOT beacon and bridging ladders. Oh and you better belive i'll have my firearm this time.

Can y'all think of anything else i should do for planning? Perhaps a rendezvous point incase we get seperated (somehow)?

I forgot to mention that one of the people in trail will be our very own Nick Norie! Hopefully this will convince him to keep his TB!

You should definitely have a rendezvous point. I hope everyone has a CB so that y'all can talk to each other if there is only minor separation. Are any of the others Marines? I hope so, maybe one of them will help be prepared.

Bill seems to be leaving at the right time on this one. ;) It almost seems like the blind leading the blind... I hope the Marines are on stand-by.

It shouldnt be that bad. I know the area fairly well and as long as I know which direction I am headed can get to pavement from almost anywhere out there.

I have done the same many a nights. Also been able to get myself out of my jams too. Luckily I carry enough rope to tie around my lower radiator support and un stick my fan.
