Well, i suppose it's time to admit that I wont be around here much longer. I'd better get on this planning because I go on terminal leave from the Marines on March 3rd. My plan is to spend 7-10 days hitting all the best trails that SoCal has to offer, then driving straight back to Florida to being my new career in Law Enforcement. This trip is open to any TrailVoy fellers that want to join. You can do a day thing, or try and stick out the entire trip with Roadie and myself. The logistics aren't completely in place yet. But looking to head out March 4-5 and probably hit Santa Rosa for a night, then do several nights throughout Anza Borrego State Park. If anyone has any suggestions as to what trails to hit, please feel free to comment.
OR if any southern east coasters want to meet me in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, etc and show me some trails near there, then I'm game for that, too. After I check out, the marines will be paying me for another 51 days, so I can take my time getting home :excited:
Hit me up with ur ideas, or if your interested in joining us.

Major bummer, but may work out perfect. Planning a trip to see my grandparents in AZ around then, so if I still have the TB you can bet Ill be going. In the mean time when are we gonna meet up and hit some trails?

First weekend in Jan may be tough, my 22nd bday is the 1st so maybe the next weekend would be best.

Well, I showed you the best camping in the park, in Hawk Canyon. Blair Valley, just south of the Pinyon Squeeze, is a bit more open if you're going midweek and it warms up faster in the morning sun. There's also some very secluded canyons to the northwest of Clark Dry Lake. I'll print a map and mark it up for you.

I love it when people trying to work the word facetious in, and inevitably the misspelling turns it into a scat reference.

It's the ol' "heard it said so many times I think I can use it in a written sentence now" syndrome. :poke:

Just do NOT write the word "walla" or "wallah" on this forum. :finger:

I'm thinkin Fishy and DJ are close enough to join us... Hell, clearly JD is within driving range.
Let's make it madatory to join this trip. ALL ORTB must participate, or face excommunication!!

Did someone mention scat? I just happen to have a lovely pic of bear scat from Tecore V campsite!

Well mixing a 4 day offroad trip with a cross country move is kind of a pain in the arse. Planning for how long each leg will take, where to camp, where to get fuel, where to go if trail is closed/impassable, what food to bring that wont spoil after ice melts, how much water to bring. And thats just offroad part.
Then on to the highway driving. Not such a headache, but still some logistics involved. Should i pick hotels and let them be my daily goal or drive as much as possible and just find a cheapy motel once I get tired. Any fellas between San Diego and Orlando willing to let me crash on thier couch? :poke:
I know I hafta be back in FL before the 13th of March. The tour begins on the 4th. 4 days of offroading give me almost a week to make it back to FL. Jeesh... this is fun!
I printed out a map of offroading area and have probably drawn and erased about 14 different routes, relocated a few camp sites, account for fuel detours. Still have to calculate total offroad mileage. Looking at 20 seperate trails over the span of 3 days.
