I think we get to about 6000 feet but it is at the other end of the state.
I'm pretty close to sea level where I am. I don't know how many times I have dug a hole to bury a post for something and find water at the bottom of the hole. I think my well is like 28 feet deep.

Michael was in the service for five years and just moved back home and is getting to see all his old friends and places again. I can be patient. :work:

I'll just take it out on his BROTHER later for Bacon's transgressions. :excited:

Well, as I may have mentioned before, I accidentally packed and shipped my camera. So almost no pics were taken of the offroading portion. But the pics I do have are from the "touristy" stops.

Pretty much ALL of eastern CA, AZ, NM, and western TX was one big wind/sand/rain storm. So that sucked as far as scenery goes. Got some benefits once the wind was at my back, but for the most part it was a 90degree offset wind gusting up to 55-60kts. Enough to push the windows out of the upper track. My best tank of gas averaged 17.3mpg, the worst averaged ~13.4mpg.

This is TX... Looked alost like AZ.. and NM... and eastern CA...

This is when I had the sweet tail wind

Happy to say the ony Mountain Lion i saw was at the zoo... Would suck to run into one in the desert, sucker is huge

Funny silverback. Watched em' chase the smaller monkeys around

One of the street performers on Bourbon St in New Orleans. He just stood there. Very cool...

Great trip, the GPS's fuel cost estimation was relatively close based on all the varying factors I encountered. I totaled $814 in gas and the gov't reimbursed me ~$670. I'll be sending in my travel claim as far as lodging, and hoping to get that back, too.

The wind through the plains areas really is crazy. I remember it messed us up too. I was expecting a tail wind on our trip back east, but it was just crosswind which didn't help any.

But as long as you guys had fun, it was a successful trip.

oh and the crosswind through the desert was to the point where I had to drive with my steering wheel turned into the wind about 10-15 degrees just to keep straight. Time for a tire rotation, i suppose!
