The Roadie and myself met up this past weekend and he passed on some more of his expertise to me. Showin off some of his favorite camping sites. The trail was pretty good for a stock TB (rated at a 2 or 3), hopefully my last trip as a lowrider though. :viking:

Looks like I got alot of buildup to get done!

Looks like it was a nice trip. Did you even bother to setup a tent?

What, and sleep on the dirty ground while bill is up in his condo?
Nope, this guy here just folded down the back seats and camped out there. Apparently, i'm the perfect height, too.

Nice to see you guys getting out and about! You're making me yearn to go camping again.

You have a long way to go before getting to the 'Bill' level... but, heck we all do. ;)

I imagine Bill would be a handy but expensive neighbor.
You come over see all Bill's cool stuff and you're like "yeah, I need one of those!"
We do that from his threads on here, I imagine it would be worse if he lived nearby.

Sometimes I go through my stack of catalogs in the library (you know the magazine rack in the bathroom) and throw them all away because they just make me want more stuff!

Oddly enough, I'm trying to be a more needy neighbor, who points to stuff I've outgrown or not used, and says, I wonder if there's anything a group of young Marines could do around here that would be worth about what that thing is worth? :coffee:

And it happens I have a 800 pound hot tub I just bought that needs to be moved 4 miles. :excited:

Here's some of my pics.

Somebody's adopted this trail to paint warning slogans on a few trees and rocks, like this. Style looks like it's from the 30's.

Image

Harsh winter up here left all kinds of limbs down all over. To reduce fire danger, it's fine to pick as much up as you can and burn safely.

Image

The most challenging spot for somebody without a G80.

We tried this twice, because I forgot to advise Michael about left foot braking as a possible way out of having two wheels spinning. Turns out it's not effective, so I've been wasting my time talking about it in various posts. Sigh....just upgrade the axle to the 8.6" with a G80 and this won't happen.

Image

Very unusual to have wildflowers this late in the summer. It was a really wet winter.

Image

I'm not climbing up there, no sirree.

Image

Steep climb out of the campsite

Image

Image

Watch out for the rock!

Image

Michael's in this picture, honest:

Very sweet! Our wild flowers are out still too. Very wet winter, spring, and summer this year, and on the cool side of temps as well.

And I thought California was nothing but fruits and nuts. :raspberry:

Cool! I would've loved to opportunity to wheel with Roadie when I was new to this. Hell, I would still love the opportunity to do so. Great pics!

I'll wheel with Bill one day just so I can cross it off my bucket list. 8-)

How fast was he spinning the tires? I've used it with some success in an open differential Jeep, in 4-HI, spinning ~25mph... It won't climb the "roller hill" or anything, but it'll help you if you're "this close" || to getting traction with that third wheel...

I think the fastest the wheels were spinning was ~10-15. Didnt know if it would be best to go faster or slower.
