I'll be headed down Thursday the 26th in the afternoon with a couple others to get a good campsite. We're hoping to snag the big one across the road from the creek.

Yeah you should check it out, it's where all the good ol' boys in our region ran off to when Ifish sold out and got very.. well :flower: for a hunting/fishing forum.

They sure do have that run well organized.. Its crazy there is far more runs up north than down here, I must be too close to Ashland!!

A bunch of us got together the other night and figured out that there's going to be 40-50 people there over the course of the weekend. Easily 20 trucks. We're probably going to have to split into groups to keep things moving. We have 2-5 trucks coming in from the Seattle area as well.

My guess is that there'll be at least one other 4x club up there as well.

There'll be a big Labor Day run as well as other smaller runs... you should think about coming up sometime.

Back in one piece. Had a blast of course.

Highlights of the trip:
  • No game ending mechanical problems
  • Truck turned 100K miles on the trail
  • Destroyed a tire sidewall and gouged a rim pretty bad
  • Body damage.
  • Tire carrier fell apart. Should have given myself more time to work on it before taking it with me.
  • Did a lot of trails that used to require 4WD (including a couple blacks) in 2WD.
  • Got lots of surprised looks and "Nice Rig!"'s. Including a couple wide eyed dirt bikers who were stopped on a trail we were climbing.

Pics to come...

Well, looks like the pros far outweigh the cons. Glad you made it home in a handful of pieces and looking forward to the photo documentation.

Those BFGs 10-ply?

ETA: and are the scratches from sliding down that "V" that I saw the vid of on Facebook?

Load Range D BFGs... 8 Ply IIRC w/ 3 ply sidewalls. It's not from V. I was on an really narrow trail called Cedar Tree and wasn't watching my front driver wheel. Planted it just right into a sharp rock.

One guy did peel his tire coming down that V though.

Still waiting on uploads. The scratches/dents in my fenders are from the vid that's coming...

Here's a couple pics...

My line was off a bit and I ended up too far left. Had to back up after nudging the wall with the driver front fender. Then got the rear one on the way down.

Here's a vid from a truck two behind me. He gets a pretty good shot of me getting over the rocks.

The Bronco behind me rearranged his door getting through. The Blazer the camera was in broke a hub. It took two winches to get him out. Me on a snatch block dragging him left and the red Blazer pulling him backwards. He can barely open that passenger side door now.

Here's the V Mike was talking about.

My Photobucket album is here. It seems I have to reupload vids to YouTube to embed them here properly. More coming as I get time. I haven't even looked at the dashcam stuff yet.

Nice vids! I vote you as the most likely to roll the vehicle!

Weird... it said "Video Not Found" for me... oh well.

I tried that obstacle (Hog's Back) in 2WD as well. Probably could have made it if it was dry. I ended up going straight up (no left turn) once too. No vid of that though. :(

A good chunk of this trip seemed to be spent doing trails I'd done before in 2WD instead of 4WD, picking harder lines on obstacles, or just flat out aiming for things to get my tires on. I did a few brand-new-to-me-trails too (the rocks in the previous post for example).

I also spent a lot of time waiting on people who broke down...

We set a bead with starting fluid...

You used: http://s743.photobucket.com/albums/xx79 ... MOV01C.mp4

You should have used: http%3A%2F%2Fvid743.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fxx79%2Fimakethingswork%2FTSF%2520Memorial%2520Day%2520Weekend%25202011%2FMOV01C.mp4"

Gotta grab it from the "html code" section in photobucket.

Search next time!! viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1209 :raspberry:

Well done Donny! Nice vids as well. Seems like the trailblazer got out less damaged than some of the full size rigs.

And that video of the 'V' looks sweet, nice job! And gotta love the squeal of the wet brakes.
