Decided to go give the new front gears a workout today. We got a wimpy couple inches of snow down here near sea level in the last week... but around 2500 feet there was this.
The "roads" are narrow up that way and of course were slick... Some have a little bit of a downslope. One started to pull me down towards the embankment, so I backed up and tried to ride the inner embankment with the sides of my tires. That resulted the TB ending up with it's side in the snowbank.
When I climbed out my driver side window I ended up like this. (Shameless pic of my crotch)
My buddy Chris thought he'd give me a tug backwards. Right. Here's a pic of the truck I took as I got the winch hooked up to a tree.
Then it started to snow... again.
The snow let up and I pulled off and let the boy play a bit.
More snow pics.
Note my buddy in the last pic... who has somehow managed to get stuck behind me in the turn off. That resulted in this:
... so that I could get enough room to turn around in the space we were in.
More snow.
On our way out, we passed a couple (of many) trucks coming the opposite way. The guy in back was obviously not a snow driver... as he was all over the place. I opted to give him a wide berth and once again ended up in the ditch. I drove along in the ditch looking for a place to get out for a couple hundred feer until the angle started to get a little interesting.
Yep, another winching. That's three.
Fourth winch usage of the day happened when a snowmobile tried to pass us on the outside and tipped over. He came close to rolling a few times. I fixed it.
Saw a few other people do some crazy stuff that I didn't have the camera out for... including an "extraction" that probably should have cost some fingers.
Here's us on the way down, following a VERY timid H3.
There were 4 other trucks lined up behind me... it was pretty funny.
Back on pavement and headed down.
I had fun getting stuck. The winch paid for itself today... and I want my front locker even more now. Although most of the situations I got myself into today it wouldn't have helped with. No body damage.
