That's exactly what I was thinking. So while at wally world has anyone ever hear of mountain house freeze dried food?? Is it any good?

So I went ahead and bought some and decided to try it. It really is not too bad and is definitely worth it especially for a quick hot meal.

Hopefully ill get off by 6 so I have some light left.

Woo Hoo! Discovered I have no center plastic section over my oil pan drain hole, so I bolted on a cutting board from Harbor Freight. Fits like a glove, just need to trim off the handle!.

Also, planning on meeting you guys around 12:30 - 1:00PM at the Chevron in Highland.

Address is: 4304 Highland Ave, Highland, CA

It's right off Highland Ave off the 330. Let me know if this works for everybody.

So to confirm, I don't need to bring any firewood? Is that covered? Or should I pick up some just to be safe? Getting food and drinks tonight, have the TB unpacked for vacuuming, and clothes washed for packing. Not taking any fishing implements, as I don't think we'll be fishing.

I will see how much firewood I can get but more than likely you don't need to bring any.

What is this "vacuum" process of which you speak?

Something that needs to be done to keep dog hair from getting into all the tasty snacks I'm bringing!

I'm not washing it though, unless I have some spare time today and the carwash is free...

Haha I know I was just saying because I just realized I hadn't. It probably desperately needs it though

Pics and video will be the norm... I hope to debut a new setup... droidcam! (provided I can hack up a hole in the car mount for the lens to see through. Otherwise, see the Borrego Trip thread for the usual coverage our group provides.

I got the Verizon car dock, and it took the video of my broken tie rod end last month. The black droidx and the black dock contributed to it overheating in the sun and it automatically suppressed video, then phone, functions for a few minutes. Do you have an aftermarket dock?

Factory dock for original droid. The plan is to add a strip of tint at the top of the windshield. Haven't had any huge problem with the heat, but then again, the inside of my TB is usually akin to a walk-in fridge. :)

Regarding extra gas: Just in case, or essential for wheeling? I don't have my gas gaskets for the jerry cans, so I don't wanna put gas in them if I don't have to.

X2 on this. I have one good gas can but it is not meant to be in cold weather.

Its really thin plastic. It was a swap meet special like 10 years ago and my dad bought it for gas for our lawnmower. I had 2 good thick plastic 5 gallon one but they got cracked one dezert trip when we didn't tie them down too good.

But the good news is we are set on fire wood. My dad had some old 45 inch 4x6 pieces we cut down to 21 inches so they would fit in my roof rack. So we have 20 pieces plus 4 of the fullsize just in case.

Cool! I'll skip firewood duty this trip, I think Roadie will still have his propane setup, too. Starting to pack... :lurk: Charging batteries... :gimp: Filling the fridge... :flower:

just got back from the store... $100 later, we have plenty of drinks, soda, beer, gin, and scotch alike, some chili, and some turkey patties. Making the patties now, storing them in wax paper for later. I also got some pretzels, chips, and granola bars! :drool3:

Getting the TB cleaned out, everything organized, :mechanic: and everything in its proper place, buying ice tomorrow, and we're off!

Looking forward to a simple camping setup day/night tomorrow, then offroading all weekend! :flex dirty:
