The shock in this $995 coilover set is an integral part of the design and can't be separated. The mounts are all wrong. And you need to define your mission and budget first before even looking at this sort of thing.

I dont really have a budget because i dont wish to ever sell the vehicle, I was just a little confused on how the coilover worked is all, but im all good now haha

From the first post in this thread, this is a coilover, and you can see the upper mount is not the spring retainer, and therefore, would not fit a spacer between the spring and the upper mount, like the stock struts do. The threaded collars on any coilover shock do exactly what any inside-the-strut spacer does, which is add preload on the spring to lift the vehicle.

if you decide to go with the Radflo, then sell your front lift.
If you already have a lift, I would drive it until you find a reason you need more.

Here is my reason for wanting to replace my lift.

Once lifted 03 Trailblazer on 35's, gave it up to travel the USA with my family.

I just noticed something odd, on my RC lift I have a big/thick washer on top of the spacer. I don't think it came in the kit, must have been a stock washer(bought my kit used). Does the BDS kit not re-use that washer? It would prevent the shock nut from falling back through the hole.
Also, it is hard to tell but it doesn't look like you have much thread on top of that shock nut. There should be at least an inch or more thread out of the top of the nut(unless you put washer spacers underneath). If not that would allow some movement, possibly a sawing action of the shock threads on the mount.

Mike, that picture confuses me. Did you remove the top nut, bushing, and washer before taking that picture?

ok, now it makes sense!
I was thinking that the wear had made the hole big enough for the nut to slip through because there was no top washer.
Makes perfect sense now.

The bushing was torn to hell, but it was still holding up the rod and nut.

Interesting, I kind of have the ability to pay to play in this area. However I don't plan on going beyond my current ride height, and I'm mostly interested in improving things for long term durability. I don't want broken CV axles on the trail but I don't have plans of stuffing 36s or 37's under my car either. I'm happy with the 35's. But I'm just now getting into readying about improving the front weak points and I'm very interested in improving the IFS. No one has pushed the limits there.



Well if you discover someone willing to make sets at a decent price before I do, be sure to let us know.

I'll probably switch over to the radflos in the future along with rear fox shocks and Z71 springs but for now im happy with the 3" inch lift and the rest of my stock suspension, I gotta save up for college first before i go all out on my suspension!

My truck runs that style shaft. And by the looks of it, those are for my truck, lol.

Anyway, is that a slip yolk in the middle of that CV shaft?

It is a slip joint. We have a slip joint but it's hidden inside the inner joint boot. All shafts like ours need a length adjustment.

Yup. These shafts use a Porsche 930 style cv joint which is giving the greater degree of articulation, however the joint doesn't allow for enough plunging as an offroad truck needs. As Bill said our stock cv joints has them on the inner tripod joint. That inner tripod style joint I believe is causing vibrations for a few of us in 4wd. I removed my shafts and the vibs were gone.
