It really is a good size for this, IMO...
FWIW, I know you're using mechanical pipe, so I'll tell you that tube is measured in OD and pipe is measured in ID... So 1.75" pipe is more like 2" tube...

Good to know lol, perhaps some 1.5 will do the trick. I'll take a run over to home depot today after i get my tires rotated...
