PCM Tune?

Trailblazer and Envoy related, but not off-road related...

I asked that very question. This was their response:

The difference between a regular tune and a premium tune is about 5hp on an I6 TB. With regular we usually see 10-14hp and 1-3mpg as well as better driveability. The tuning also helps with a little more power down low as well.

The throttle response is the incredible thing. The power is ok, not really noticable, but put your foot in it and it goes...No more 3....2....1....and we are off. It is juse WE ARE OFF!

Yea, like I said in my first post on this thread, its the response of the gas pedal, the tune wakes the TB up, very peppy. I wouldn't want to go back. Ever.

No difference... it's all an illusion like a placebo. And 3mpg? Really?

Sorry, I'm a little sour per my experience. At least they gave me my money back.

Seriously, get a scangauge first.

I'll agree with you on the MPG, no way did I get any change, but when I first did the tune I wasn't lifted yet and I drove much faster, so that could have a lot to do with that.

Now that I'm lifted, its still very responsive when I want it to be and shifts much smoother... I have also driven a stock TB and its sooo sluggish compared to my lifted w/ tune. Speedo is off a lil still, even with the retune, but not worried bout that too much.

That just my experience tho.

I got 1 mpg and the speedometer is way closer than it was, but I know the guys I wheel with that have jeeps say the same thing...no product get the speedometer exactly back on. Just within 1-2 mph.

I have a scangauge and it does nothing that a tune does. Just lets you see what the motor is doing. It does not remove the torque management or correct the factory speedo at all and did not give me 1 mph and was more expensive than a tune. I like it, but not nearly as much as the tune.

It does correct the speed... not the speedo, but the scangauge reports the speed on the gauge screen and it can be adjusted to the correct speed.

Scangauge isn't supposed to do those other things, as you said it reports engine data. It's not an alternative to a tune - I only say it because I wished I had one when my PCM tune sent my transmission to the shitta. At least I would have known what codes were being thrown.

My Tomtom gives me the correct speed. But I like to use my factory gauges. It is nice to be able to see codes.
